The artwork is neat, and I

The artwork is neat, and I like the fact you have a domain that points at your BGG page - seems like a smart choice.

I'll second that! Also, after

I'll second that! Also, after the trailer it went to a preview of the gameplay, where it looked like a small box set or deck. I remember you posting that it's going to be a big box set with all 4 factions - is that the final version, replacing the smaller individual boxes?

Well it is not "replacing" per se...

The individual Player Game Sets which you see in the playthrough video are part of the "Early Access" version that was made available via "The Game Crafter" (TGC). That version since my agreement to partner with Outer Limit Games (OLG) is no longer for sale...

Instead with OLG, we will be releasing a Four (4) Player Big Box edition of the game known as the "Exterra Edition". This Four (4) Player Big Box is almost going to cost the SAME price as the TGC version with the exception of a few pennies and it will allow Four (4) Players to play the game.

Now while that was not enough... We also decided to create cards for each of the Four (4) Mega-Corporations (think Factions) and given each one an asymmetric ability that makes playing with each Faction a little bit different.

We will also be trying to reach Stretch Goals and include a bunch of extra "Expansion" pieces such as two (2) Scenarios and Four (4) Premium Role sets of cards for each Faction. Also to be offered will be two (2) versions of the game, a "core" version for people who want an affordable option (less expensive, easier to learn, better for younger children) and a "premium" version which will include "custom" dice and another 140 card expansion to the game.

All-in-all if we reach our expansion goals, the game will just be shy of 500 cards in the Big Box (497 cards in total)!

Cheers!

Do more with less

Well it's a small production for a game... We can't afford to invest in making some webpage/website that will take months to perfect - when we can simply point the URL to BGG and people can get all the information they need: playthrough videos, forum messages and inquiries, teasers/trailers and even become a Fan of the game or gamers putting the game on their own personal wish list!

If we had to develop this all in a website it would A> Take too long or B> Cost too much money. And to be real honest even if we did develop it within a reasonable amount of time, the amount of visitors would be limited.

Instead on BGG all the BGG Fans and patrons can have a look and share their comments, rate the game, etc. BGG offers so much that a custom website would pale in comparison.

As far as artwork is concerned, there will be about 100+ unique pieces of artwork. We will be re-using artwork from the "Early Access" version which was available for a limited time on "The Game Crafter" (TGC). And we did the best we could to bring the game to market... But the TGC price for ONE (1) Player was more expensive than the "core" Four (4) Player Big Box we will be Kickstarting soon! So you get Four (4) players for LESS than the one (1) Player Game Set (which was priced at $29.99 on TGC).

So yeah it's all about moving production overseas and dealing with a Publisher that knows how to sharpen their pencils (so to speak). We get a strong deal for the making of the game such that we will be able to sell in the normal distribution market model (where 5x manufacturing is the standard).

Because my Publisher assures me the Kickstarter is not the end of the amount of sales for the game. But we are offering a crazy deal to KS backers, for a small extra (in terms of $$$) you will get a Premium version that is KS ONLY. That version will include two (2) full game "Expansions" (if we reach all our Stretch Goals) exclusive Faction dice (thrown in to the mix)...

Really making it interesting for the KS Backers...

Beautiful art - I'm getting excited!

It's all coming together Kris and that's a wonderful thing! I'm putting money in the piggy bank for this one!

Funny!

When Mike told me he was going to make a Trailer/Teaser video - I was like COOL! And then maybe about an hour later he sent me the link to it... And I was like "What?", "Who?", "How?" - already??? It seemed like it took him hardly anytime to whip together the video...

I admit I was pleasantly surprise how "nice" it came out... and in such a short time too!

Since voting in December and January where we saw a BOOST in popularity of the game... February and March had been a little "quiet". So this Trailer/Teaser video is perfect for reminding people that the game will be sold anew soon.

Cheers!

I haven't a clue about HOW he does it!

My favorite piece of artwork is featured in this video: the boiling cauldron. Just the detail in this piece of art is really amazing! (As you put it)

And it's a bit lucky how I met Charles. I was selling Quest Adventure Cards(tm) with the artist Geof Isherwood at our local Comic Con. Geof had just started working at a Studio teaching artwork to students. It just so happened that an administrator (Anthony) at the studio shared Geof's Booth... Yeah all three of us huddled in a booth... Was pretty tight!

Anyways to make a long story short, Geof moved to Ottawa and suggested that I contact Anthony to look for another local artist that could work on my projects. When I spoke to Anthony, and mentioned that my latest game was Science Fiction, he said he knew the perfect artist... Who was also an Art Teacher at that same Studio!

Yeah Charles is super busy with over 60 students... So that's how I met Charles, we met for a coffee - discussed the project and he showed me different art styles and we of course discussed rates and availability. Charles has done a real great job so far. I'm very fortunate to have worked with him as he has produced artwork for the "Early Access" version and now some of the game's expansions.

Pause the video and move the timeline to 1:05 in the video...

This will show you a nice sized "Boiling Cauldron" with some kind of alloy or metal being melted and molded into something else...

Just the amount of detail around the "Cauldron" is AMAZING! And it looks so FREAKEN REAL (Futuristic of course)!!!

Still trying to promote the cr@p out of this... :P

Just *bumping* this thread. We've gotten over 150 views which is not too bad... Almost the same amount as the number of votes we got in the BGG hottest games of 2017 (177 votes). The video hasn't gone "viral" ... It's been shared on Facebook, BGG, YouTube and here!

Thanks for your vote of confidence...

BTW @Hamish you should really get the App people to change the category of your game:

Currently when I search: "basketball games" I don't find the PS Basketball game.

The games all have "company" "SPORTS". Your game is "Pocket Sports" "BOARD". It should be "Pocket Sports" "Sports".

This way when anyone Googles (using Google Play) with "basketball games", your game will appear in the list... I know it's a long list... But hey you're not in that list currently... That might help downloads too!

Cheers mate!

On our way to 200 views!

Not that we had hoped that the video goes viral... (would have been nice). However @Mike tells me we would need to be on Radho's Channel to do so... But Radho doesn't play games with Player elimination. So Jen and him might not want to enjoy playing the game - unless they are "Good" to each other! LOL No appetite for destruction!!!

But I figure the content is "nice" the video itself is very simple. Or perhaps deceptively so...

Since it took 3 hours to make, my assumption is more time and we would have a more "complete" video. But the video was not rushed - just put together to advertise that "Tradewars - Homeworld" (http://www.tradewarshomeworld.com) was going to be selling anew soon!

Over 200+ views!

Well it's cool that we keep getting more views of our Preview Video... We are currently just over 215 views!!! Even though there are less views... they still keep trickling in.

Hopefully we can hit 225 views... My next post will be IF we REACH that goal!

Cheers everyone!

We've hit 225 views!!!

Just finished up the storylines for the Covenant Mega-Corporation. And this means that we have complete 75% of the storylines for the cards in the game.

Only the Destined Mega-Corporation is missing, however I've gotten news from our writer and he says that he's completed about 65% of the blurbs that will be on the cards.

It took me longer than usual to review the Covenant blurbs... It requires a lot of patience reviewing, reformatting and editing to come up with a result that will fit correctly in the allocated space.

I'll post another update if we hit the 250 views mark! Cheers.

Just wrapped up the 2nd Expansion rulebook

I know it's late tonight (1:45 AM) - but I have been working hard on the 2nd Expansion rulebook. It was not too bad, the rulebook has only five (5) pages including a Table of Contents, a short introduction paragraph, a component listing and game layout. This means that the rules are about two (2) pages in length only.

During that time, we've managed to get a few more views (we are currently at 252 views)!!!

I realize that most people have seen this thread (and ignore it) LOL - but it seems like there are new people to it - everyday!

Anyways let's hope all this late night work will be rewarded with more backers interested in understanding HOW the game is played and specifically what each Expansion adds to the mix...

Cheers.

Still more views ... Cool!

We're now at 300 Views! Which is sort of a milestone. I wasn't certain we would make it to this milestone - because the video has not gone viral. I'm not too sure who is watching anymore (LOL) but we seem to be getting more views each and every day!

Cheers...

We've hit 325 views!!!

Still amazed that our preview Trailer/Teaser is still getting some more attention: we've got 325 views. More people getting their eyes on the game and the beautiful artwork...

Really it's a shame that cards are so small - because the artwork is "scaled down" when you see it... Having larger blown-up images is real cool - because it allows people to more fully appreciate all the artwork in its detail.

Cheer!

Over 350+ views!!!

Woohoo, we've got over 350+ views!!! That's pretty good considering the video has only been released publicly in a few places:

  • Outer Limit Game's Twitter
  • Tradewars - Homeworld Facebook
  • Cardboard Collectors Forum
  • Board Game Geek Forum
  • BGDF Forum

With only such a limited release - we're still getting more views for the Preview Trailer/Teaser!
