What to expect from publishing a game

I have created a game via TheGameCrafter that has been doing pretty well on the site as well as through Kickstarter where I succeeded in getting some funds to help promote my game. I would like to take the next step and get the game published by a true game publisher and I was wondering what I could expect from this.

I am wondering what kind of money (Initial/royalties) I could expect from having a publisher pick up my first design.

I am also wondering if that publisher would be more accepting of future designs (If the initial does well) and should I expect more on the seocnd deal.

Does anyone know of a publisher that specializes in finding indie-dev games like those on TheGameCrafter?

Thanks!

You can expect each and every

You can expect each and every publisher you deal with to do things a bit differently. Royalties are commonly 5% of gross sales but some base it on net or a flat fee per game produced. You’re not likely to be able to demand higher rates unless you have made a name for yourself like Dr Knizia.

These guy take submissions and have indi in the name so maybe they are what you are looking for :)

Kickstarter

Jonathan,

We are one of the earlier backers of your "ANTS!" project on Kickstarter. Glad to see you on this forum. Hope all goes well with your publisher search. Explore as many publishers as you can, in consideration of your available time being limited. Single recommendations are great but you really should shop around. In addition to royalty percentage or set fee per game, a publisher dedicated to marketing your game is just as important. Percentage or set fee doesn't matter if your games aren't promoted well and don't sell.
