Hi guys I'm sure many of you have seen me poking around the site talking about my game Zodiak. If not than you should look it up =).

Right now I'm at a wall and I was hoping you guys could help me out. I've gone through my checklist

1. Design the game
2. Prototype
3. Play test
4. Play test again
5. tweek design
6. play test again
7. Finalize rule book
8. Game back story (this isnt a real step but I did explore it).
9..... ?

Where do I go from here?

I created a Facebook page to help me start building a fan base https://www.facebook.com/Zodiaktcg
I have a website/blog in the works but I'll only get serious with that once the fan base if large enough but does anyone have any advice on where I should go from here?

NO !

NO I SHALL NOT GO OUT OF MY WAY AND START A NEW GOOGLE PAGE, AND COPY YOUR GAME NAME AND PASTE IT IN SEARCH AND PRESS ENTER AND LOOK IT UP.

...unless you link it? And give me a nice shiny button to press? Then it will be easy for me and I would be happy to! ( :P )

Ok the standard answer at this point is "you haven't playtested it enough" which is (nearly always) the actual truth. How many times did you playtest it man?

Other than that: its over to you! Imagine it like writing a book.

"I have designed an idea for a book, written it up, re-written it, my friends have read it and it looks ok - what do I do?"

well Now it really depends on what you want to do. do you want to publish it? Do you want to sell it? Do you want to release it for free as a pnp? Do you want to kickstarter? Do you want to submit it to a load of publishing houses?

It all depends on what your "end goal" is :)

Link?

Is there a link to this Zodiak game? I don't do Facebrick (unless my family will disown me if I don't "friend" them *rolls eyes*)

Where do you see Zodiak going?

Yeah, what he said. Answering these questions for us will help us give you better advice. Answering these questions for yourself, if you haven't already, is even more important.
I can think of a few steps you could take right now:

1) Develop that blog now, don't put it off until you feel your fan base is big enough. Especially if you plan on self-publishing. A good website can be one of your best tools towards making that fan base grow.

2) Do you own the rights to all of the art you have posted so far? I understand that the game is in an early prototyping stage, and publishers might not care so much what it looks like at this point. But if you do plan on showing it to publishers, and ESPECIALLY if you plan on showing it to the public, it would be advisable to replace any "borrowed" art with original art. Either make the illustrations yourself (they don't have to be good, just something) or have a friend or contract artist with reasonable rates make them for you. If all of the art you have shown so far IS original to this project, then kudos to you.

3) Start recording videos of you and your friends playing the game, so that others can easily learn how (especially if you plan to distribute early pnp copies.)

4) Playtest more.

5) Have other people who haven't played the game yet playtest it without your help. They'll have to rely on reading the rules you've typed up.

From talking with you in the chatroom about this game, I can say that it sounds very promising. Good luck!

I think if games like

I think if games like Monopoly were play tested more, they never would have been made.

Alrighty than

So I guess the next step is to make a Google page. As I said above I do already have a blogger website in creation but it's not ready yet.

As for the rights to my art the answer would be no. I'm still using borrowed images from Deviantart.com. I am looking for some artist to lend a hand with the overall designs but the tricky part with this is that the artist need to not only design these characters but also make a 3D render of them that will be later sculpted.

I do want to bring my game to Kickstarter to get everything nice and create some really professional looking materials for the game as well as use the money raised to hire an artist or 2. Once I raise that money I want to bring it to different producers to help me get this game off the ground and I (in a perfect world) will still be very involved with the game and possibly collect royalties.

I've learned a long time ago to never expect anything and I'm not going into this because I think this will make me rich. I mean if it does FUCKN SWEET! But if not that's fine I just want this game that's been in my head since I was 14 to come to life.

So my next questions.

Does Zodiak need it's own YouTube or can I post it on my current 1 GambitsGamer?

Where is the best place to build an audience so that Kickstarter can be successful?

Should I build a website for Zodiak? There isn't much material right now but is a full website worth doing or should I just make a blog to get the word out there and update people as the game progresses?

I just want to also say thanks to everyone for their support with this. I have a great team thats helped me work out the kinks in the combat system (though some still disagree) and not only have pitched some great ideas but challenged mine and helped me to think outside the box. Also thank you guys for your help in advance. I know people put a lot of crap on here and most of it just dies out because people get bored or don't have the direction to take it and I do sometimes feel overwhelmed with this but when you guys answer my posts and give me great advice it helps me to see that Zodiak has a very very strong chance at becoming something very real.

If there are any artist on here that maybe want to do some pro-bono work for me and I'll gladly reward you with a portion of any money raised through kickstarter please hit me up!
