The game development studio „Effective Evolutions“ and the hobby game retailer „Spiele-Offensive.de“ unite in order to bring you the international game design contest „Obscure Forces“. The Kickstarter campaign for the Lovecraft-inspired, Berlin-based survival horror game U55-END OF THE LINE may be over but that does not stop us from bringing you gamemakers another contest!

>>> What's the deal?

They lurk in the shadows of ruins, in the concrete sprawl jungles, in the hearts of the corrupted. They gather in the most far-flung corners, in the void between the stars, in the oppressed screams from the gutter. Obscure forces, bringing us doom...or salvation? What are they? What do they want? How can we defeat them...or should we fall in beside them?

And that's when you come in – because someone has to know the answers... For our game design contest, we are looking for creative game authors and all those who wish to become one. The contest focuses on an elaborated idea for a board game in the broadest sense: card games, children's games, eurogames, family games, „analysis paralysis“ games, party games, miniature games, tabletops, board game/RPG hybrids, etc. Your phantasy is the limit! You have an idea combining fresh game concepts and clever mechanics with lots of fun? Then you have come to the right place!

>>> This is how you can enter the contest:

Send your game concept based on the theme „Obscure Forces“ to contest@effectiveevolutions.com, deadline is February, the 28th, 2014.Your game concept has to reflect our contest motto „Obscure Forces“ - how it will appear in your game concept is entirely up to you, be it a game mechanic, a humorous Terry Pratchett-like approach to the background or something completely different. A game concept is not a finished prototype and does not pretend to be one. However, it is more than a mere idea. The concept should amount to a description of your game idea in English (or German) on maximum two pages in an A4 format, using Times New Roman, minimum font size 10 (formatted as a Word-document). This description should suffice to convey our jury a solid feeling of your game with its crucial rules and mechanics as complete as possible. You can add illustrations as well (overall graphic presentation, table layout, game components), but they should not exceed three pages in A4 format. Here is the loot you can get...

>>> Of course, you will not stay left out in the cold. Here are the prizes you can easily win:

1st prize: A 75 € gift voucher for the "Spiele-Offensive.de" shop

2nd prize: A 50 € gift voucher for the "Spiele-Offensive.de" shop

3rd prize: A 25 € gift voucher for the "Spiele-Offensive.de" shop

( Don't worry, "Spiele-Offensive.de" has lots and lots of English games to choose from! :))

>>> Please keep in mind the following aspects:

* For reasons of organization, only the first 100 entries in English (50 entries in German) will be accepted

* The deadline is February 28th, 2014

* There is no age limit

* Every participant may submit only one entry

* The submitted entry may not be currently published and cannot be under current consideration for a publication elsewhere

>>> Your game ideas are protected!

Our jurors have signed a NDA (=non-disclosure-agreement), binding themselves to absolute confidentiality regarding all entries. Of course, this also includes submissions that cannot be considered for an entry (i.e are too late, etc.). All rights for a given game concept remain the unrestricted property of the respective author. Jury members and employees of „Spiele-Offensive.de“ and „Effective Evolutions“ are not allowed to participate. There is no right to legal appeal.

>>> I have a question...

Should any questions arise, please e-mail them to: contest@effectiveevolutions.com or post them in the U55-forum in the respective „questions“ thread here : http://u55.eu/forum/index.php?board=16.0

We will then try to solve your concern as quickly as possible.

>>> Thanks for reading and please share with your fellow interested game makers!

When you add images, should the total entry not exceed 3 pages or are you referring to 2 pages of description AND 3 pages of graphics?
