Components

Is it just the four tiles pictured? A specific quantity of them? Several sets?

For this GDS

Use the style of the tiles, coloured woods with engraved symbols and real coloured crystals. Sets and quantity are determined by your game.

Can we assume more shape to

Can we assume more shape to them than just simple square tiles? For instance, ridges so that they stack nicely? Or a specific 2x1 tile size whose orientation when laid on the board is important?

I don't yet have specific plans in mind for either of these ideas, yet. But I don't want to encourage the germ of an idea unless it would be allowed.

Go ahead and imagine away. The tiles are your launching point - use them as you see fit.

Admittedly it was a very

Admittedly it was a very specific requirement, and the idea of 'heirloom' might be outside the desires of the designers here. So kudos to those that stepped up and challenged themselves!

If you're making a career of it, it's not always about he game you want to design, so much as "one to specs." Or so the saying goes.
