Hi

I have a party game in progress, that relies on "questions" (or scenarios), that the players can react to each turn.

The idea is, that a player draws a card with a question/scenario, reads it out loud, and then chooses a reaction-card to the question/scenario. There are 7 different reactions players can choose. The other players will then have to guess the players reaction to the question/scenario.

Examples of such:

- You accidentally farted loudly in an elevator full of strangers
- You found out you were adopted
- You see a homeless person with a sign that says “I bet you can't hit me with a quarter”.

Now, I need apporx. 100 different questions/scenarios, but I'm stuck at 70.

So I need your help to come up with funny/mind bogglin' questions/scenarios.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like a lot of fun. Do you make up the reaction or read it from the card?

How about:

-You wake up and it's 1985
-Due to an unfortunate mixup a the hospital when you were born, you find out your fiancé is your twin brother/sister.

- I already did! Lots of it! But if I had to see 1200 hours of movies, it would just take to much time. So i tried to remember funny/unusual situations from movies etc. I have already seen - but of course i cannot remember all the (relevant) situations. This is where I hope you guys could help me out!

Thank you! That's a good one. I'll use it!

To clearify: You draw a card, read what it says, and then you have to choose between 7 different reactions (on 7 different reaction-cards). All players have the same reaction-cards, so the player who got the "question" chooses one of the 7 cards and puts it (face down) on the table. The other players then also pick one of 7 cars from their hand, and put it (face down) on the table.

There is of course more to it than this, but I am satified with the mechanics, so i just need some more questions/scenarios..

Hope you can undertand what i mean - if not, please feel free to ask further questions.

Thank you both!

I didn't contact any publishers (since the game isn't complete yet - need at least 100 questions/scenarios).

It can be played by 2-6 players (but is easily adapted for more players)

Like most party games, I can't imagine it would be any good with two. Have you named it yet? How about "Reactions"? :-)

Yes, I have a name for it. "Reactions" would be a quite obvious name. But in my case, I actually have the game "setting" in a somewhat "unique" universe, that i have yet to see a game "exploit". For the same reason, I cannot disclose exactly that the name or the "universe" is, or the name for that matter, as they are very closely related. But it should be familiar to a large crowd.

Thanks for the suggestion though! I really, really apperciate it. I won't forget!

A 2 player "party game" sounds trivial, boring, dry.. i will agree to this point.. However the game IS playable by 2 players, even though it wouldn't be as exciting as with, say 5 players, it is (mechanically) possible to play it with just 2 players. And say you are on a date, I bet this would be an excellent way to disclose "secrets" about your date, that you would have otherwise have to wait to maybe 4-5 dates to find out.

I guess you could argue, that the game is an accelerator, in terms of getting to know each other.

Great party game!

Seven reactions aren't enough, I think. Probably you have a different deck of reaction cards to answer annoying situations, moral questions, practical skills and general knowledge.

I can't help comparing your game with Say-anything and Say-anything-family-edition. In Say-anything players can show their creativity.

You both made me laugh a lot! There is both stuff I can use directly, but also stuff that inspired me to think about other stuff.

Thank you both!

The seven reaction cards should be enough. It depends on the question/scenario. If the reaction is too obvious to a lout read question/scenario, then it's no good of course, but some would be easier than others, which it's supposed to. I don't see it as a problem, but it might.. Guess I'll discover that during playtests. But thanks for the heads up!

As for Say Anything, I didn't know it until now (just looked it up). It is somewhat similar to my game. Thanks for pointing that out.

Wits and Wagers and Dixit are also somewhat similar, but again, not quite the same.

Some scenarios

You stand to inherit a million dollars, if you can survive a night in a haunted house.

A talent scout comes up to you and says you're the perfect choice for a role described as "the love child of Frankenstein and Swamp Thing".

You're digging through junk at a garage sale and find a copy of Action Comics #1 priced at 10c.

Everyone in your neighbourhood is invited to the greatest party ever! Except you - apparently everyone thinks you smell.

After a mix-up while checking into your hotel room, it seems you've been mistaken for an undercover spy and now you're being chased across the country.

Very nice entries

ConMan, i like your proposals!

I didn't make my final list of these scenarios yet, and I can tell that at least a couple of your proposals are better than some on my list, so I'm happy to tell you, that I'll be using some of them :)

Another thing:

ANYONE who has proposed something that finds it's way to the final version, WILL BE CREDITED (a thank you and your username @ bgdf) somewhere in the rule book of the game.

Thanks!
