This week I wanted to look at the topic of pacing in games: a rate of development or change players experience over the course of a game.

The presence of pacing in the form of story telling in other mediums (theater, television, movies) has a profound effect on how the audience takes in the experience. I'm confident board game design can uses these same principles.

In the article we look at tabletop games from the perspective of the dramatic arc. We look at six ways to create rising action (building tension and creating a greater interest in the game), pivot points (Dominion), some key considerations for creating a strong conclusion to your game and how players approach the end game.

Comments and criticism are always appreciated. This isn't a topic I've ever seen covered in board game design so there is plenty of room for growth and improvement on the ideas.
