Is anyone here going to BGG Con in Dallas next month? If so, are you hoping to participate in designer/publisher speed dating?

I'm yes to both. What do you guys think of the tabletopgeneration.com sell sheet setup format. Pretty handy, I'd say. Now my game has some sort of web home it didn't before.

Have any of you done a speed dating event before? Do you have any advice?

Speed Dating Advice

I went to the GAMA speed dating event this year in Vegas. The single biggest piece of advice I can give you (other than just being prepared), is to know who the publishers are at the event. I came with a packet of materials for each of the publishers there, and I'd say all of them were very impressed and told me so. I most certainly didn't have the flashiest game there, as others had full artwork, and mine was basic computer text on printed paper in sleeves. But I knew what I was doing, who I was there to see, and got the most attention, even a few follow ups for the game! If you're serious about selling your game, research your potential buyers, know your game, know who its intended audience is for, how you expect it to be printed (card decks should be in multiples of 54) and just be ready for some fun discussions about your passion!

As a side note, one thing I wish I had done better was "scripting" my pitch. Stack the deck, play a demo of the game to explain your mechanics, and make sure it comes out exactly the same every time, and you feel comfortable "playing" through the script you make for it.

Good luck! Let me know if you need any more input.
