Hi ---

This is my first post here on BGDF and It's amazingly awesome to know there are so many board game enthusiasts out there like myself...

I'm just a few days away from receiving my 3rd (and hopefully) final prototype and was considering a KickStarter campaign but I'm frankly just not sure how well a game like this would do.

Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated.

This particular type of game

This particular type of game is not my cup of tea; I don't enjoy fantasy battle games. However, there are piles of people who LOVE this sort of thing -- especially with good art and lots of components. If you can produce and ship it at a reasonable price and make sure you drum up enough interest and keep the momentum going, this could be quite succesful on kickstarter.

Just remember:
1) Figure out your financials and don't forget to include shipping costs.
2) Figure out interesting rewards for your backers.
3) Figure out a social media plan to get and maintain interest throughout the funding period (and get some tips on how to run a succesful campaign while you're at it).

Thanks a lot man! I really appreciate the suggestions... I'm not exactly sure how to go about rounding up a "following" Social Network-wise.... Do you think running a few Facebook ads might help with that?

Thanks again!!

Sites to look into

Hi tommytime555,

First of all: congratulations on your game and on considering the exciting road that is Kickstarter!

I'm currently running a KS for my game Pleasant Dreams and it's been an amazing experience. Looking at your game, I'd say that it can definitely work on Kickstarter, but I agree with the previous poster that it's important to do your research. I run the Game Makers Guild, an organization for game designers and we provide (free) resources for game designers that want to get their games published: http://www.gamemakersguild.com/

If you click on designer resources you'll find a couple dozen of links to KS related pages. These are about everything from marketing to manufacturing and statistics.
