Consider this sentence for a moment: "A surprisingly fresh poker styled game from rural Minnesota developer Nicholas Markgraf."
Is it surprising that a fresh take on poker could come out of Minnesota? Is it surprising that Mr. Markgraf could create something fun? Does the game just look run-of-the-mill, but you'll be surprised once you play it? Maybe leave out the "surprisingly."
The one thing I wanted to say is that IF players each play a Western Character, you can have "character specific abilities" like: "The Sheriff may draw +1 card from the deck".
So it could add more in-game abilities which can be specific to a Poker game. Another example "The Swindler steals 5 poker chips". So even if he does not win, he can still earn/steal some chips.
Just some examples...
Introducing the "Ace of Spades!" One of the most identifiable cards in a deck, it is also one of the most powerful cards in "Smoking Aces!" Swapping any card from your pocket with any card in any pocket once a turn is a power to be feared and respected equally. Turn the tide of any game with the Ace of Spades!
