There is just a month left until we close down pre-registration for Protospiel MI July 15-17.

Pretty Interested

I've never been to a protospiel but I'm quite interested. What is the environment like? This one is pretty close to me since I live in the Kalamazoo area.

Very casual and friendly.

Very casual and friendly. Bring a game or not. If you bring a game it can be in any state from designed that morning to nearly ready to publish. In short, Protospiel is AMAZING

Man I wish my experience at Protospiel North would have been better... Well I'm not even sure where the event was since there was also the HammerCon going on "at the same time"?!

All I know is that everybody was "playing" their own games and hardly any patrons showed up for the con.

I had two kids playtest my game. One bought a pack of cards for $5.00 which was 10 High-Quality plastic coated cards. But you need a minimum of 3 per player (so 6 at minimum) to play a duel.

The other kid was not very impressed... He asked me: "So there is no battling?" My response was: "Instead you compete to complete Quests!" He seemed to enjoy the game also - but did not buy any packs of cards.

The remainder of the time was sitting and waiting at the table.

Very disappointing con/event. Also I did not meet any people from the sponsors such as Steve Jackson Games (ala Munchkin) or anyone else for that matter. Some people came around and said they "loved the artwork". It was done by Marvel/DC comic book artist "Geof Isherwood". So I HOPE they like it, Geof gets praise from people like Larry Hama and even Stan Lee.

But I guess the confusion of HammerCon mixed with Protospiel North is what is "debatable". If both events are going on at the SAME TIME, perhaps ONE ROOM should be for Protospiel and the others for HammerCon. And it should be easily understood given the cons literature (Exposition map and rooms).

I wouldn't complain unless I seriously thought the confusion (to me) was apparent.
