My background is in Software Development... And I find the funniest thing about software is when I want to do a project (write some kind of software).

It has happened several times: my project is TOO ADVANCED for the technology! :P

This time: trying to connect a Nintendo DSi to the Internet using WPA security encryption...

YOU CAN'T!!! Nintendo says: "Use WEP security encryption or an open connection (no security)"!

Can you believe Nintendo's response? WEP is SO INSECURE a child can hack into it!!! WPA is acceptable and used by most Wi-Fi Hotspots... but is unsupported by ALL DS games. DS games use WEP ONLY!

They have a FANTASTIC web-browser for the DS/DSi. But ONLY the DSi can connect using WPA. How the fnck does their web-browser use the extended DSi WPA capabilities???

Seriously this is what p!sses me off about development! Everytime I have a nice little project, the damn equipment doesn't support what I want to implement!

Urgghhhh! So frustrating!

I'm not a software developer

I'm not a software developer so the difference between WEP and WPA is gobbledygook to me (along with the difference between the DS and the DSi). But I know the too advanced thing from film makers. They typically want to do things that have to be invented on the spot to work.

The differences...

The difference between DS and DSi is that the DSi (when in DSi mode) is 2x faster, has more memory (16mb), has dual camera (who cares) AND allows for WPA encryption (Advanced networking - for Internet connectivity).

The difference between WEP and WPA is that WEP uses a single 10 digit character key (static). WPA uses a long 63 characteter passpharase (along with shared keys that change).
