Anyone been following this report about the Samali Pirates? http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090409/ts_afp/somaliapiracyshippingdenmark...

I heard the pirates, with the captain hostage in a life boat, ran out of gas and are stranded in the water with the navi circling them. I couldn't stop laughing when I heard that. It's so compical like out of a typical story.

The 53-year-old father of two is understood to be safe, but is still being held hostage on a lifeboat by four pirates armed with AK-47 rifles.

I fail to see the humor in this situation.

Not funny

What's funny about it? The word "pirate"? These are murderers and thieves with assault rifles, not lunatics with eye-patches and parrots.

The situation over there drives people to do desperate things... this is no different from some guy robbing a convenience store and taking the owner hostage when surrounded by police. It almost always ends with the hostage-taker dead, sometimes the hostage too... there's nothing funny about it - it's just sad.

That's why I asked you if you

That's why I asked you if you had been following this. I haven't kept up on the story, especialy being that I don't subscribe to cable or receave a newspaper. I wanted to see what anyone thought about and if you could conform the running out of gas help sarounding the lifeboart sort of deal. I know I should have just done more resurch. I'm not laughing at anything else but what I heard about the pirates runnning out of gas and the navy swarming in to rescue. I know it's a dire situation.
