Hi,

I have a general question regarding play time. Do you include setup time in the play time or is it strictly "play" time?

Time

When submitting a description to a publisher i do occasional list the setup time when it longer that 5 min or so. Otherwise it’s just left out and not included in the play time. More often I might include how long it takes to learn the rules. Although they vary as needed the example below is typical for one of my games.

Title: AAAvalanche
# of players: 2-4
Ages: 8+
Time to learn: 5 Min
Time to play: 30 Min
Components:

Bi-fold Board
12 Stackable playing pieces, 3 each in (Red, Yellow, Blue, Green)
4 double sided special action markers, 1 each in (Red, Yellow, Blue, and Green)
3 custom 6 sided dice; faces Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, A, & B
Rules booklet

Proposed theme: Mountain climbing.

Winning condition: The first player to get their team of three climbers to the top wins.

Description of play: Players will take turn using resulting dice rolls to move the climbing teams up the mountain in a race to the top. You can’t stop the others teams from climbing but you may be able to get a hand from them or be forced to help others if they outwit you. All this furious activity on the slopes can cause avalanches. You’ll need to avoid the avalanches, climb fast, and get the upper hand to win this race to the peak.
