Hi everyone! My name is Cheryl and I'm excited to be here on BDGF. I have enjoyed playing board games for as long as I can remember.

The reason I've joined is because I am a software developer that is part of a development project to provide online tools for board game design and I would love to connect with interested designers to learn about the tools you like to use; what you love/hate about them, where the gaps are, etc.

Thanks, I look forward to exploring the forums and connecting with you!

Welcome to BGDF!

Welcome to the forum Cheryl!

I'm sure you'll find that, despite the prevalence of dice and cardboard in the game descriptions, you'll find quite a few sophisticated users of design software on this forum.

And if your interests are more toward UI or UX, you'll also find those of us who just want things to work and are willing to give feedback to help that happen.

Hello and Welcome!

Hi there, Cheryl! I'd like to join in with the others in welcoming you to BGDF.

When I think of software tools, what immediately come to mind are Tabletop Simulator and Tabletopia. Those are custom-built and offer a lot of support to designers who like sharing virtual versions of their games. Hopefully you've seen those around during your research (or are you involved with them?), as I think it's the next logical step when it comes to software tools and "cloud sharing." Personally, I feel like I'm missing opportunities by not being so involved in software, but I put my efforts more in "analog" face-to-face playtesting time. Fortunately there's no shortage of quality designer meetings where I'm located, so I've not felt it necessary to seek online assistance.

In any case, best of success with your project! And please share your insights on any game concepts and ideas others are sharing here.

Thanks let-off studios! Re: Tabletop Simulator

Thanks for the welcome.

We have checked out Tabletop Simulator and Tabletopia, thanks for mentioning those. I'm curious to know what people think of those tools.

I agree that we want to get to that point in the future and have some ideas of potentially making it a slightly different (and in our minds better, hopefully) experience.

Take care!
