Hello,

My name is Craig. I'm from the great state of Michigan and have loved card games/board games my whole life. Board games represent my fondest memories of my father, and I love the prospect of creating my own games.

I have recently decided to pursue the desire to create a CCG/tabletop game. I am eager to learn more about the process and stretch my creativity.

Cheers,

Craig

Welcome from a fellow newbie.

Welcome from a fellow newbie. I look forward to bumming around the boards with you.

Have you gotten started on any projects yet? Or is this your first step?

Thanks for the welcome! I

Thanks for the welcome! I have several ideas floating around in my head. I've attempted some creation in the past, but never stuck with it. Unfortunately, most of those ideas are now lost in the ether.

Currently, I'm developing a two player card game with a steampunk theme. I've gone so far as to draw some mock cards and test the viability of mechanics, etc. This is still a pretty early step in the process.

I'm eager to learn and create.

Hi there

Welcome to BGDF!

CCG's are outside my area, but they've been discussed quite a bit on these boards already.

Looking forward to hearing about your ideas and your feedback on others' ideas.

Welcome

Hello and welcome to BGDF!

Frank is right on two counts: card games - and CCGs in particular - are discussed with vigor round here, and there's a lot of collective wisdom to draw from and contribute to as well.

Best of success to you and your future projects. :)

Welcome!

Please browse around a little to find the discussions on why NOT to make a CCG :)

(short answer: because you are not made of money, and your game is not called "Magic: The Gathering")

Jay, thanks for the warning!

Jay, thanks for the warning! I actually don't plan on it involving booster packs or a collection aspect (even though I misleadingly said it was a CCG).

I was thinking of a self contained game containing 75ish cards. From that, each player would build a "team" comprising 5-10 of the cards. Something like that, anyway. It's still in its infancy; as am I.

Well that would work pretty well :)

I look forward to hearing about it. If you create a "blog" over on the left side of the screen, that's a good way to make multiple posts about one project.
