Hi all. Wanted to introduce myself.

Stuart, from the UK. I've been a writer professionally for over 20 years and have worked on some huge RPGs over the year, but this is my first personal project so it's quite exciting (but also very nerve-wracking).

I came on here to hopefully get some feedback on my card designs and to see whether I'm not making a complete mess of this project, because while it's a fairly simple process, each actual individual design element can ruin a project when there's only you working on it.

So far, I'm 14 months down the track and launching on Kickstarter in September (8th 2015).

Here's some of the art and a quick brief:

KaBlooey is a light-hearted party card game that pits player against player in a war for survival. Toss bombs, grenades and even nukes at each other in a bid to be the ultimate victor in this fast-paced game of bluffing and strategy for 3 to 8 players.

The object of KaBlooey is to destroy your opponents’ Bases by blowing the living hell out of them with bombs, grenades, and any weapons you can get your hands on! Each enemy has 3 lives (Bases) and if you’re the last Bomber standing with 1 or more Bases at the end of any turn - you WIN! But, there’s a twist: the cards you play don’t have to be actual bombs! You can bluff your way to military supremacy with a non-Bomb card to try and get your opponents to waste their valuable resources. War is hell, and all’s fair in love and KaBlooey!

Successes: KaBlooey has been really well received by the gaming community. Really well - far better than I could ever have hoped. It's fun, simple and exciting to play. So that's a good thing :) BUT...

Problems: For all my experience in writing, I'm having the most trouble with the rulebook. It's currently 22 pages (for a very very simple card game). Trying to fit everything in and making sure everything's been covered is HARD and I guess I could do with some experts having a look at it and seeing whether it works.

Here's some ART

22 pages

is a LOT. Post a link to the rulebook and I'll have a look over the weekend. I have a card game I'm working on and I've got the rules down to four pages.

Btw welcome to the site! I'm from Windsor

Playtesting

Have you prototyped and playtested yet? You should do this as soon as you can, because gameplay can ruin many good plans.

Oh gosh yes. Playtested hundreds of games. And blindtested with groups all across the world.

It's half way through cards being designed and the rest is already set in stone in terms of rules and art. Box done.

In the process of doing a bunch of shows this summer before the Kickstarter.
