Hey im a store owner, in the past, I sold many TCG (Yugi and MTG mostly) when I got a local, I realized that the board games are a wonderful tool to teach people while having fun, not talking about giving everyone a diploma or something, also improves social skills and is a stimulating brain fitness.
Short history im in love with this Sh*t. <3

I want to talk to people who noticed these things (you in this case) and have seen beyond.
unintentionally finished designing a couple of games (I'm in the same problem that many, I have no artistic abilities).

I would like to discuss dynamics and mechanics (im a mtg so i love discuss boring topics C: ) with you and help (helping you learn a lot), I hope to receive your ideas.

If you're looking to get

If you're looking to get picked up by a publisher don't worry about the art. What matters is the engine not the pait job. Publishers will put thier own art on it if they like the game play.

There are plenty of smart people here to help you get going. Just ask a question.

TCG

I am also a big fan of card games, especially when they are the main component such as magic the gathering.

Currently im creating one that is extremely deep but is very easy to understand. The cards have a lot to them but once you grasp the concept and learn the icons it is super intuitive.

It has its roots deep within Chess and Plays similar to Summoner Wars, where you move the cards on the field but also manage them off the board (resources etc.)

The combat is interesting and I actually just developed it the other day. Each card has a defense and attack cost. When you wish to attack you will pay with the available resources to pay for the action. The defending unit will then chose to either pay the defense cost or allow the attack to kill the card. If you pay the defense cost the advantage is now in your court. The attacker must pay another attack cost to gain advantage again.

If the attacker wins (combat ends with the attacker having advantage) the defending card is killed.

If the defending card wins (combat ends with the defender having advantage) the defending card only gets 'hit', not killing the card but forces the player to move the card all the way back to its territory.

Simple but fun.

Attacking will typically always give the player a sense of control but the defending player can alter it.

What makes this interesting is similar to magic the gather you have mana/resources. You can only tap/recharge at the beginning of your turn. If you want to defend with cards you have to save your resources for your opponents turn. Theres always the struggle should I save or should I just use it all and gain a foothold? Decisions.

Abilities though happen without contest. If an ability enables you to trap an enemy card you can (with the ability cost of course). Although you also have the choice of killing the card. More decisions. If I kill it he's no trouble, oh but he has resources, crap! I'd better trap him and conserve my resources.

Glad to see someone who enjoys cards as much as me! PM me if you'd like to converse and bounce ideas off of each other. We could even play test each others games.
