Hi BGDF:

New member here from Washington, DC. Attorney by day, board gamer by night. I've been a board gamer for years, but in recent weeks I've become more interested in trying to design a game or two. I'm a complete rookie to the craft, and it is probably not realistic to expect to get a game published any time in the foreseeable future (if ever). Nonetheless, I still think it would be great fun to see if I can learn enough to at least take a shot at developing a game from vague concept to final, working prototype.

With so little experience, I am really excited to find this forum where there are so many experts willing to share their knowledge and know-how.

Oh, I should also add that I'm an omnivore when it comes to games. I enjoy everything from heavy war games to lighter euros, and everything from two player co-op games to big group social party games.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you!

Welcome!

Welcome! I'm pretty new to the design side of the hobby myself. Best advice I've encountered so far is to prototype as soon as you can. There's a huge gulf between ideas and reality on the table.

Good luck!

Brendan

Your wife's maiden name isn't Campbell by any chance, is it? I'm sure there are plenty of board gaming attorneys in DC, but I figured I would ask just in case.

Well, we at least know that you share both an occupation and hobby with at least one other person in your area. :)
