Arctic Scavengers Rules

I would love to get feedback on the rules for my game. You can find them on BGG here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/41700

Any and all feedback is welcome, but I am especially interested in getting input on the flow, organization, and clarity.

I left a chunk of feedback

I left a chunk of feedback over on the main BGG forum. If I get some more time I'll try to leave more.

Sounds intriguing :) I like how your initial Junk draws could steer you down a strategic path. Similar more to RftG than Dominion.

Why not 2-player capable? I don't personally see any scaling issues...

Problem with 2-player

Initially the game was intended to support a 2-player format. The trouble is that playtesting proved to result in a fairly hollow game experience. Contested Resources can sometimes be picked up with only a single mercenary, if the other player uses a significant number of cards in gathering resources, it is easy to plan accordingly and crush the 1 or 2 cards they reserved. The player interaction is limited and the game ends up feeling more like a tennis match.

I'm actually planning on holding a contest this summer and awarding prizes to those that come up with the best two player variants for the game. Then I plan to select one and publish it with the first expansion (I already have two expansions planned out).

The simplest I could come up with is just to make another start deck for "Bob" the ghost player.
During every skirmish "Bob" contributes 3 random cards from the top of his deck. If he wins, then he gets the new card.
Every time a player bribes a mercenary, add one copy to their discard pile and one to Bob's discard pile.

Might need some tweaking, but it does at least seem reasonable. The card counters among us could try and predict what Bob has left to play...

Looking for feedback

Any other feedback on the rules? I've got to lock them down by Friday, so I would love to get feedback soon.

when it talks about sorting the different kind of cards,

it sounds like the different types don't have different backs?

All the same card backs

That is correct. If they did, then when people were holding their cards in their hands you could tell what they were holding. That would make the bluffing aspect of the game kinda silly.
