Dragon's Hoard

A fast paced simple gambling die game.
Will you be the might adventurer to claim the dragon's hoard, or will you fall prey to the dragon itself?

Gameplay relies on one ten sided die and is best played with four to eight people.

Each person bets the amount of coins they are willing to lose, these are their tokens.
The last Dragon gets to bet and roll first.
Each player then roles the die in turn, and follows the action on the die:

1-3 Take one coin from another player
4-6 give one coin to another player
7-9 give one coin to the center pool
10 take the center pool.

The game ends when only one person has any coins left. They are the dragon and win the coins they have. The last person out wins whatever is left in the center pool, and is the adventurer who stole from the dragon.

The game then starts over with the betting round.

Swipe

You may want to have a look at the dice game Swipe, which - except for the gambling/bidding aspect - uses the same and similar mechanics as what you describe here.

I personally think the original game was rather dull (it's a situation where "the game plays you" in my opinion), although it required a starting number of 2 players instead of 4, and player's left it up to the dice to determine where the chips/coins go. The game was over when the center pool of dice was exhausted, not when one player was out of chips.

One thing I find important to

One thing I find important to point out: Dragon's Hoard is the name of a recently KS'd card game.

Thank you for pointing that

Thank you for pointing that out. As I intend to use this only in my DnD campaigns, I hope they won't mind me using the same name :)
