Merchants & Corsairs

Merchants & Corsairs is a game about running a shipping business during the Age of Sail. Each player starts as a lowly captain with a bathtub of a sailboat and makes their way to become a wealthy manager of a shipping fleet or even a dreaded privateer plundering all that floats!

There are 9 types of ships players can choose from: the Snow, Ketch, Bark, Brig, Sloop, Frigate, Cutter, Schooner, and Clipper. Each has it's own unique advantages and disadvantages. Some are faster, others sluggish, some can carry more cargo, some are expensive or dirt cheap, and some require a hartier crew to man her than others. Each ship suiting to a different captain's strategy.

Players will sail their ships from port to port buying and selling Coal, Iron, Wool, Tea, and Rum. As well as outfit their ships with Crews (which must be paid), Cannons, and Upgrades. They with deal with the fluctuating Markets, Weather, Prohibitions and Taxation, Mutinies, Wars, and each other as anyone has the option to fly the black flag or, if lucky, use the Letter of Marque and become a privateer and claim Bounties on the heads of other players.
