Sweet Saga Introduction

preview2.jpg

I'm happy to be joining the site. The game I'm creating is tentatively named 'Sweet Saga', and the game's basic premise is the question, what if Candyland could kill you? The game's setting and playstyle I would describe as a mix of Candyland and Magic: The Gathering.

I am currently about a quarter of the way through the illustrations for the game cards and am absolutely determined to complete it. I have the gameplay worked out and have pretty successfully playtested a prototype of the game.

In this 1-4 player game, the players are 'dreamers' who imagined this candy-coated world as small children, only to return to the world years later to find it turned sour. A civil war has broken out and nearly everything in the world now wants you dead, especially the current ruler of the Kingdom. Enemy cards offer challenge to the players, Loot cards offer the reward, Dream cards act as table-turning wild cards, and Encounter cards develop the story from the start of the game in Lala Land all the way to the Frosted Throne.

Along the way you'll encounter the ferocious Brownie Bear, deadly Gingerbread Warriors, Cultists who worship the ancient God, Cacao, and the Somnarian Sisters who have pledged to help you on your journey. You'll travel through the chocolatey Fudge Brownie Bayou where you'll surely run into fudge pop-weilding witches. If you survive the bayou, you will enter Cherrytop Tundra, where the Ice Cream Sammutts stalk their prey, and where Cremalanches wait to crush the unwary.

Your goal is to overthrow the one who sits atop the throne, and take the Kingdom for yourself. Let nothing stand in your way!

Please check out the attached preview image for an idea of the art style.
