I’m excited to join this community and looking forward to learning a lot. I’ve been in the video game industry for quite a while but in the last few years I’ve nursed an unhealthy obsession with tabletop games, playing and designing in my free time.

I have a couple that I’m working on publishing. The latest is a time-travel themed card game that’s been designed as a "filler" from the onset (short play time, quick resolution, low downtime, simple set-up and rules, scalable to large number of players but with a strong strategic element) - it’s gone through several rounds of playtesting and now receives consistently good feedback and I'm looking to get it more exposure (I have rules and some images up on onedrive (http://1drv.ms/1CgKjGU) if you are interested).

Couple questions I have coming into the community:

One: I’ve been lucky to be able to participate in first exposure playtest hall (gencon) and I'm looking for local venues to do something similar. I'm in the Seattle area (eastside). I’ve found a couple small groups on Meetup and have a few test groups in my own social circle but I'm interested in doing more of this sort of thing for current and future projects. Unpub and Protospeil look really intriguing but I'm looking for something local.

Two: I'm looking for effective ways to promote the game and its development - where's the best place to put a development blog, what communities to get involved with - that sort of thing. Any success stories/insight would be really appreciated.

Looking forward to learning more and meeting other folks on the site.

Cheers!

Thanks - appreciate the ideas. I'm a member of the Facebook groups (and a few others like the Card & Board Game Designers Guild, Board Game Builders, The Boardgame Group, etc). Hadn't thought about gamedev.net, or RPG.net. Great suggestions.

Cheers!
