Hey everyone. I'm from the big white north: Canada. Anyways, I literally just joined BGDF, although I've been browsing around for two or three years. I've found this site pretty helpful just reading other people's thoughts, so I can't wait to see what I learn when I actually start asking questions!

I've been into the board game hobby and the board game design hobby for quite a while now, and I used to design abstract games since before I was in school! I was just working on a nautical adventure board game called 'Winds Of Fate', but that crashed and burned for reasons that I might elaborate on more in another forum. Now, I'm working on a civ building game (my all time favourite theme) called 'Age Of Man'. I'm really excited about this game, and I can already see that I've learned a lot from my mistakes. I'll probably elaborate more on 'Age Of Man' in another forum as well, so keep your eyes open. These are some other board game ideas that I have up my sleeves:

-Patient 13: A cooperative game about managing, expanding, and treating patients inside a hospital. Players work together to earn a required amount of reputation before the game ends. You can build rooms, extra beds, and introduce new technology into your hospital. You can also treat patients with different symptoms, diseases, and personalities. You can hire doctors with different skills, nurses, and specialists with special abilities. You can try to keep everyone happy (patients and staff) so that your hospital can function more smoothly, and get a better reputation. You can even send people out in the ambulance to pick up emerg. patients who you will frantically attempt to treat before your time runs out and they die, destroying your reputation. You can make people wait in line in the waiting room, or bring certain people to the front of the line, but the longer they're there, the worse their ailment gets, and the more grumpy they get.

-Behind The Scenes: A game where you take on the role of a criminal mastermind, spinning complex webs of interconnected plots. Use your criminal organization to become the master of the streets, underground, and digital world of a steampunk city of Venice.

-Physiko: Bend the elements to your will in a worker placement/deckbuilding game where you are an alchemist/inventor in the Renaissance Era. Combine parts to create contraptions that win you fame, and gold. Create ingenious inventions, or potions that even the rules would not be able to forsee.

Those are just some of my board game ideas that I wish to introduce here to BGDF: You can expect to hear a lot more from me. I'm excited to get some feed back, and don't worry: I like criticism. While your at it, you should check out my 'Competitive Variant For Robinson Crusoe' in the respective forum.

Thanks, (Archimedes42)
