A bit about me:
Originally from Canada, now residing in New Zealand. Only in the last couple years started board gaming, mostly due to I was a bit of a rover for many years so couldn't carry a collection in my backpack.
Just decided to start designing a few weeks ago, whilst in my office job I got inspired by the pattern in the carpet.
Also, working on another game, so its exciting to have an outlet for the creative juices.
Yes, it may be a dead end outlet, but anything is possible in this day and age. So, may as well see where it goes
Hoping, to spend more time here discussing and fleshing out my games
and then one day actually having a published reality!

Welcome to BGDF!

While I've never heard of someone being inspired by the pattern in a carpet...and maybe it was the voices who told you to go into game design. If that's the case, listen to them :)

Seriously, welcome and my story is not so dissimilar. I've been a hex-and-counter wargamer for nearly 30 years, along with RPGs, as they were portable, and quite frankly, the board game industry in the U.S. and around the world had remained unchanged for nearly 70 years. It all changed when I joined the service and was stationed overseas. In the late 90s, board games had gone through what could only be called a rebirth, and the advent of the internet fundamentally changed gaming.

I'm excited that you're here...as every new member adds something to the mix.

Cheers,
Joe
