Hello everyone!

I'm fairly new to gaming in general, let alone to game-design. I like to create stuff, and my brain is very spatially-oriented, so I love designing layouts and maps. I like strategy and have always loved Risk (though I am yet to win a full game). I also love studying history more than almost anything I could give my time to, so I'm trying to combine my love of history with my enjoyment of games and creation/design.

I've been wanting to create a line of historical games that somehow remain true to the historical account of moments that changed the course of history (not just the battles or wars, but they'll be included), but also allow for players to work together, or in opposition, to determine how the moment or epoch takes a new shape in their hands. I especially want to focus on the underdogs of history--some of whom achieved their goals, while others remained under the thumb of those they resisted.

I'm hoping to join others with similar dreams and ideas, to learn from you all and to swap ideas and theories! I'm really excited to join this collection of designers and gamers!

Hello. If you are new to

Hello. If you are new to gaming in general then I suggest you take some time to get a feel for the enormity of historical gaming material already out there. Fresh takes are needed, as many games are either out of print, very dated in terms of mechanics, or devoted solely to moving tiny chits on a hex grid. However, the bookshelves of most historic gamers I've known are glutted with old SPI, Avalon Hill, and GDW titles, so it is easy for someone new to the scene to try reinventing what is old hat to them. Prior to being bought out by Hasbro, Avalon Hill had a massive catalog of historic games that pioneered many of the concepts still used today. If you enjoy Risk then I want to make sure that you've tried Diplomacy, which is one of the few titles still available through the new Avalon Hill.
