Hello fellow designers and gamers!

I'm looking for people who enjoy fast and light card games to help me playtest my latest design called Hordes Of Orcs:

Players: 3-4
Play time: 15-30 minutes

Hordes Of Orcs is a trick-taking and bidding game in which players strategically send their army of Orcs to raid a series of increasingly valuable Territories!

The highest ranking Orc to be played each round takes the Territory...but keep an eye out for Dragons who can swoop in and alter the battle field!

Raid the most Territories and have the most powerful Horde Of Orcs remaining in your hand to win!

I have made a Dropbox folder for safe and easy download of the PNP:

Thanks to any and all who choose to join me on this riotous raid!!!

hand of 8 or hand of 10

Just a few notes...

1) I noticed your rules card says you draw 1 to keep a hand of 10 but your rules say that you keep a hand of 8.

2) What does keep your hand of 8 mean. Won't the hand decrease as you play the game because of dragons? Do you draw back up to 8?

I will print this out and give it a try when I get a chance this weekend.

Just my 2 cents worth

=M=

Thanks Mark!

Yes you're right that was my mistake...I reduced the player hand from 10 to 8 due to the size of the deck vs. number of players...with 4 or more players the deck was depleting too quickly, and I found that a hand of 8 did not diminish the experience.

After each round, players draw cards sufficient to bring their hand back up to 8 cards....so if a dragon is played, that player draws 2 cards.

Sorry for the confusion...I'll upload a corrected PDF so others don't encounter the same issue!

I hope you enjoy Hordes Of Orcs!
Chris

PS: Sorry for my late rely..I was out of the country and unable to log on for over a week!

Updated PnP now in Dropbox!

Hey all,

First please let me thank everyone who has tried out the game...play testing takes time which you all could otherwise be spending playing proven, awesome games...so it means a lot that people would give mine a shot.

I've corrected the rules in the PnP thanks to some good response I received, so all should be clear and good to go.

Raid on!
Chris

Can it be anything besides

Can it be anything besides orcs? There are already so many horde of orcs type games out there, be it "Orcs Must Die," "Orcs, Orcs, Orcs," or the super forgettable game that I bought with a title I can't remember.

Theme options

Yes one of the great things about the mechanic is that it can be just about any competitive theme in which players go against one another.

Some others I'd considered was a "heist" themed game in which players are sending quirky mob-type characters out to steal different things, or bugs in a cartoon military theme (army ants, etc.) sent to raid a picnic.

Basically the theme of rank or power among the characters under the players' control, and increasingly valuable "things" which they are competing to accumulate, is the foundation on which the theme may be applied.

I went with Orcs, as like it or not, fantasy is one of the top selling themes in games...though I agree it can be a bit tiresome if not done with a fresh twist. I'm all for changing the theme though, so any recommendations are welcome!
