Good afternoon,

My name is Daniel, born in New Zealand, raised in England and now living in San Francisco. I am currently producing a deck construction game and I am sure I will need a lot of support and I am happy to help others in any ways I can.

I have recently run a successful Kickstarter campaign for a comic book and am now turning my attention to a card game set in the same universe.

The card game is a Living Card Game (sucks that the term is protected by Fantasy Flight Games) and the simplest way to describe its mechanics would be as a halfway point between Magic the Gathering and Pokemon Cards, but as I play-test hopefully it will migrate further away from those games and get its own identity.

These are the card designs I am currently working with for play-testing. As you can see I have literally ripped off Magic the Gathering for the mock-ups but am currently looking for a freelance designer to help me overhaul the card layout (which I expect will be difficult as every card will have four abilities, taking up a lot of space).

Hello!

Hi Daniel, good to hear from you!

I just looked at the cards and my main thought was about layout. Are the cards played from your hand for their abilities? If so, maybe it is worth finding a way to put the abilities all down one side of the card (probably the left) so that they can be seen when held fanned in your hand. You might need to use half of the card to do this, which would limit your illustration space (though that could make the cards really distinctive), but it's worth thinking about.

Of course, I don't know whether you are at a stage where you need to think about this. Good luck with developing your game!

Hi Rob, that is an excellent

Hi Rob, that is an excellent idea and I am at that stage of development. I will definitely talk with my designer about how the cards look in the player's hand, and how easy it is to read their abilities when redoing the layout. Thank you :)
