6-sided miniatures

So I've had this idea for a while now and haven't really seen or heard anything quite like it. If you've found it, by all means let me know! So the idea is very general, it's a miniatures game where the actual figures are 6 sided dice. Each side of the dice has a different type of fighter or an upgraded version of the original, corresponding to images on each side. Whatever side is facing up is the active fighter (ex. Knight) but you could spend tokens or energy to flip the dice on it's side, activating another fighter (ex. Archer). So you could essentially have 6 different play styles all wrapped up in one die. Let me know what you think of this very basic idea and if it could even work in a miniatures game!

That makes me think of the game "Chunky Fighters."

Nice idea!

I think this is a pretty cool idea. I would be concerned about having lots of these "miniatures" on the board and then accidentally knocking some of them onto a different side and then trying to figure out what changed... Having said that, it's pretty easy to get custom dice these days and they are getting cheaper as well!

Similar, but definitely not the same idea

Dragon dice used the idea of dice as miniatures, though there the dice were rolled to figure out what they did in a given round, and there was no persistent damage to a unit.

I think the terrain dice used a mechanic where you moved the number one at a time to indicate range.

Speaking of Cube figures...

This can be used in various mechanics. Like if the dice are individual characters, each side represents a move or skill that they can use. But instead of rolling the dice, you position them so that they represent moves/stances. Certain moves/stances counter others.

If presented in a sidescroller style setup, it can be a good analogue for a fighting or Beat em up genre tabletop game. It will need huge dice though.

I really wanted to make one based on Champions of Zulula with this mechanic, but licensing is a b****. Feel free to use the idea though. :D

Check out quodd heroes

Check out Quodd Heroes: It's a really interesting take on this mechanic, where different moves will spin your character to new sides, unlocking new abilities!
