My First Game, My First Blog Post

Good Afternoon Fellow Designers!

I am new to both this glorious forum and game designing in general. I do have plenty of experience playing social games, namely card games. which is what I'm currently working on.

I can already hear you guys groaning at the thought of another social card game, and I totally understand. However, it has been said by many successful game designers to start with a card game, then moving onto more "meaty" games.

That being said, let's learn about my game, shall we?

Name: Haven't pinned that down yet, opinions are welcome!

Theme: You are a character designer at an animation studio (think Disney/Pixar or Dreamworks). Your goal is to create the best characters for the next film.

Sounds simple enough, right? Well, there's a bit more to it than that.

There are a series of characters you and your opponents will be designing, including heroes, villains, love interests, and sidekicks.

There will not only be body part cards you're putting together to build your character, but you'll have to read my next update to find out what I'm talking about.

I'll be posting again in a couple days, keep an eye out for it!

Kindest Regard to All!

Would love to see how you do the body part thing

As a former 3D animator, this game sounds very intriguing. Looking forward to hear more about it and see what you come up with. I have had similar ideas to this, like a dog breeding, Best in Show type game, but the problem I always ran into was how to score the creations. Having it totally subjective didn't work for what I was trying to do, but it sounds like maybe that's the angle you are taking? Either way would love to hear how you tackle that as well. Good luck and have fun!

I'm picturing Bears vs.

I'm picturing Bears vs. Babies :/ .

Excited to see an update

Excited to see what comes next, the mixing body parts thing reminds me of this. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1294034747/heroes-wanted-elements-o...

Hey animepauly! I'm a former 3D animator as well! I have drawn out the particular characters that will be included in the game, the dismembered body parts will be on separate cards and you'll need to put them together. However, the goal is not to find the body parts to put the same character together; you will be creating your own characters. It will not be subjective as there is a point system involved with the card, so it's not subjective.

Thanks, Jessi

I can understand your weary-ness towards this game, thinking it's just another Bears Vs Babies. That is not how I'm building it. Yes, you are putting characters together, but that is where the similarities end. You will not be battling a group of "evil-doers" You will be building characters based on the character-type you are dealt at the beginning of the round.
