Hello there!

Our little studio launched our first KS yesterday.
Kickstarter link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/weerobingames/for-treasures/

Runs March 14th 2019 - April 14th 2019

About the game:
Four adventurers meet a mysterious merchant and buy from him a map of a secret dungeon in the middle of a huge desert. Heroes get to the dungeon, split and make a bet on which one of them will be the luckiest and collect the most treasures. And here the quest begin!
To enter this fun adventure choose your hero and start the descent into the dungeon. Build your maze or confuse your opponent, fight to level-up your hero or send a monster to the opponents. Reach the crystal in the center of the play board first to get the bonus and finish the game. But wait to celebrate - it doesn’t necessarily mean that you won. If you collected the most valuables, you won!

The game is built around a unique system of tile-laying allows you to create an infinite number of different mazes and perfect for having fun with the family and for serious battles between hardcore players.
It won't be bored for sure!

Number of players: 2-4
Time required: 30-120 min
Recommended ages: 14+

Good use of an animated GIF.

Good use of an animated GIF. Is there ever a reason to use the areas on the sides of the board, or do you just move right to the middle, more or less?

There are a lot of parts! I'm impressed that you can bring it in for $45, even when not including shipping. It looks more expensive to make than my game, which was pretty close to that when factoring shipping. I'd love to talk component cost specifics if you're interested :) Shoot me a private message if so...

I mean, I'm feeling like I must be overpaying, even though I got like four different quotations within a similar range. Maybe your high funding goal is because you're working on a 2000 or 2500 MOQ? I'm really very curious!

Also, your VAT-inclusive shipping costs to Europe, etc. sound very low.. hopefully you've got that worked out, but it looks like a good place to lose money. My boxes cost a lot more than that to get to Europe with VAT and customs paid..

If the guy sold your party a map of the dungeon, what is the map a map OF? Looks like you're making the dungeon as you go. Just curious about the backstory/lore that makes the tile laying make sense.

Good luck!

Many thanks for your

Many thanks for your feedback.

Heroes build a labyrinth to the center because everyone wants to grab the crystal that is located there. But there are a lot of tactics. You can build a maze to the side, for example, to put yourself more monsters and level-up. There are a lot of variants.

About costs. We got the price immediately for 2000 copies. We want to print in LongPack and they have a minimum circulation of 1500.
For sure we can not say that with such a price we'll earn much, but this is our first created game and, so now we are trying our best to earn a name but not money.
Looking back from our experience today, I can say what we would better create For Treasures! without miniatures. We hoped that the game would be more attractive that way, but this is a strong rise in price of manufacturing. And the minis are really beautiful, but the standee looks great too. We could put the goal below with standee only.
So we are afraid that there is still a risk of failure. With the sum less, we simply cannot print it.
As for shipping to Europe - these are the prices that the Quartermaster Logistics gave to us.
Of course, since we are new there is a chance that there are some other expenses that we don’t know about.
By the way, you pointed us to an interesting moment with the dungeon.
We poorly described this.
Our heroes bought a map of how to get to the dungeon.
The dungeon is such a magical place in which the law of making multiple paths applies. Thanks for point it!

Huh.. I use Quartermaster as well. You should bear in mind that there are TWO bills you'll get. One is for the postage within Europe (or Australia, etc.), and the second is for the freight and customs to get from Florida to Europe (or Australia, etc.). It was more than I'd budgeted, personally. That second price is not on their price list.

I did my game with a 1000 unit order, so probably cost more per unit.. don't know if my company does cast miniatures either. Other than that, we have somewhat similar component types (see https://boardgamegeek.com/image/4530889/heroes-treasure)

You have a very high funding goal for a new company (I'm a little surprised QuestCCG hasn't chimed in yet, but maybe he's busy :) ). It might be tough to get 500+ pledges, but good luck!

Thank you! :) Yes, the goal

Thank you! :)
Yes, the goal is really high, we ourselves understand this, but otherwise, we'll not be able to pay the circulation and delivery to the warehouses. We think that most likely it will be necessary to restart the campaign again.
P.S. We like Heroes & Treasure!

With a 2000-unit order, I can see why you'd need such a high goal..

I haven't seen your component prices, but if you re-start, you could look to simplify and maybe remove the miniatures (if that's your biggest issue), and maybe you could get a 1000-unit order somewhere (I used Ningbo Lijia, myself). I got very lucky getting to 350 backers..

(edit: Also, for what it's worth, having 4 rulebooks in the box is totally unnecessary.. Put the translations up online in PDF form and you're fine. That must be setting you back at least a dollar, depending on rulebook size.. If the cards can have all the translations on them without increasing costs, great, but I'm sure the (however many) French players can print the rules if needed. I think I sold like 6 into French-speaking areas, including Canada. And I think zero into Spanish-speaking)

We'll definitely restart the campaign, people want to expand the game, we will work on the supplement with a bigger play board and present it well.
About the rules: we are Russian-speaking and google translations of the rules often, but it seems to us that it is damn nice to get a nicely done mother-tongue rulebook in your hands. It's like giving respect, or something.

Thank you so much for all the advice and support!

You're welcome!

I'll note that it might be very nice to get printed manuals in your own language, but if you're adding (say) $1 per box to have 4 manuals, and that results in 1 extra sale... you're not coming out ahead there. Even if you were selling 100 extra, you're not ahead.

And I don't think you can even be sure there's 1 extra sale.

In fact, the only language (in my limited experience) that I would do a translation to is German, and that would be specifically to sell into German stores and maybe be eligible for the Spiel des Jahres award. And I didn't do that :). You'd also need a German box for that, I think.

Anyway, consider having good, solid translations which are available in PDF form rather than in the box, where everyone will ignore 75% of them.

If you're restarting, be sure to carefully consider what it is you're doing differently, and why those changes (to game or KS or marketing, etc.) are going to let you hit your goal.

Best of luck one more time :)

Sorry been on the road during the last month... Getting back to "For Treasure!", 2,000 units is very HIGH. Most first time creators get UNDER 500 backers. That amount is quite a bit of inventory to carry. And it may be hard to sell...

In our campaign, we got about 1,000 backers. And with this we plan to make 2,000 units, 1,000 for backers, 600 for core games to be sold online and 400 expansion games... So it kind of makes sense because we're building on an earlier success.

One thing that I noticed... Was that you were offering BOTH miniatures AND standies. Usually you do one or the other. I think that standies take away from minis... And having ONLY minis is very costly...

You just need to be aware of normal expectations and how to build on top of a success.

Anyhow I hope your campaign reaches its goal... But it seems a bit like a stretch. We'll have to see how it progresses (your campaign).

Cheers.

Sorry for the long reply. It seems we lost this comment.
Thank you very much for the valuable advice, we'll take all this into account.
We got a lot of experience with this launch and getting ready to go back through time with renewed vigour.
