I posted a while back with Shadow, a game played on a chess board. I've recently been developing a new game on a chess board, called Gemini. It has a bit of luck as well as strategy/skill.

I'd love to hear what people think. I've played it a bunch, and have been pretty happy with the current rules, after much tweaking. But I'm sure there's more that could make it better. It has an element of a hidden piece that moves, much like Clue: The Great Museum Caper. It generally plays pretty quick, and has multiple ways of winning and a good bit of variation from game to game.
rule sheet attached.
Thanks!

Looks interesting

Hi Martin, this looks interesting.

Just to be clear: blocks are limited to the inner 7x7 grid, but pieces can range over the full 8x8?

If not, there'd be a way to place a gem so that it would never block sight but also be impossible to steal.

Not everyone will have these handy, but reversible (Othello) pieces would be good for the gems. Then you don't need a separate draw pile. Just something to note at the end as an option (and keep in mind for manufacturing).

yup

yup the blocks can go in the inner 7x7 grid, including the intersections along its edge, while pieces can use the whole board. The idea there was so that blocks can't hem in pieces all the way, and also so that there's space around them to capture them with the thief and guard.

I may add a quick note about that in the rules - also I like the idea of the othello pieces as an option as blocks!

One other thing

One other thing occurred to me when I was away from the computer... the middle part is a 6x6 grid of spaces. It's a 7x7 grid of corners, but people tend to think in spaces.

hah! yeah that definitely

hah! yeah that definitely makes more sense to say 6x6!I updated the rules to include the mention of Othello and also mention that pieces can move throughout the whole 8x8 board. If you get a chance to play, let me know what you think!
