Tariffs and The Game Crafter
What will happen if we see those same TARIFFS going down? Will prices go back down on component coming from other countries like China??? I ask because in many cases prices only go ONE-WAY: UP! It is rare to see the price of anything go back down if and when the market corrects itself.
I know there were promises of Gasoline and Food (Eggs & Vegetables) were things that would go back down in price. Do you think something similar could happen with the products that TGC sources from other countries?
Would like to know if this HIT will be temporary or not. I mean from what I normally understood was that there will be negotiations and therefore the price of certain products might go back down "after" the negotiations take place.
Definitely would like your take on matters. Cheers!
I am very sorry to learn it impact the game crafter's price. We do micro manage the price of every component in the game.
I think the biggest problem right now is that it changes constantly, so you never know which country is going to have which amount of tariffs. So its hard to plan ahead.

Well we hope that these tariffs won't actually last long and that they can be negotiated to a much better place. As JT mentions in the article, we aren't raising prices yet and we're waiting to see what happens. When all those cost factors go up it can be difficult to bring costs back down because wages and other layers in our cost structure don't usually go down. However, if we can pass along savings in a way that won't put us at risk then we try to do that.
We know firsthand that board game designers and gamers are price conscious since most of our team are gamers and several are game designers. (several are published too!) So we're always trying to use our economies of scale and automation to keep prices low.
We'll see what happens in the days ahead.
