Re-purposing of "Monster Keep" Branding into...

Well I have thought about it a LOT over the last few days and I realized that I COULD MAYBE "re-purpose" the "Monster Keep" (MK) Branding into a product for a very popular TCG. So the goal is to MARKET the product as an MK product but solicit another market given my ideas as to improving some of the mechanics.

Don't worry, with MK I won't be infringing on Trademarks, Copyrights or other rights of the owners... I just have a WAY to BRAND and MARKET my "additions".

I'm still in a "brainstorming" phase so I cannot freely yet discuss what this NEW MK Branding will look like.

I am sorta realizing that IF I want to make it in designing Board Games, selling things like my "Dual Dice" (DD) or working on refining a Splendor "Expansion" (Prospector) are ways to improve MY odds of succeeding.

I am also very aware that one needs to walk a fine line between what is allowed and what is protected in some way or fashion (like a Trademark or a Copyright). But I also realize that some things improve the overall Game Experience like "Prospector" does (and I am also actively working on this design too...)

For now all I can say is that MK will be it's own BRAND and will no longer be a TCG/CCG or Card Game in itself, it will be a specialized product brand. I used to re-purpose game designs into other games and sort of consolidated several games into one... But the MK Branding looks to be strong enough to do what I need it to convey and this is a very unique and special purpose.

More on this soon enough as I get to work on figuring out how to make a game "extension" that is of interest to a community of TCG players.

Cheers!

To be clear...

It will be akin to "Dragon Shield" Card Sleeves. When you hear the name "Dragon Shield" you automatically think Medieval Fantasy or Dungeons & Dragons (TM version). But in TRUTH they are "Card Game Sleeves".

My "Monster Keep" initiative will be very similar and along that same vein. No it's not Card Sleeves but it is something to work in tandem with a TCG. So while "Dragon Shield" is for Card Sleeves, MK will be assets for another game.

I am still "brainstorming" and seeing HOW(?) these components would work. Believe me ... It's got nothing to do with secrecy ATM... It's because things are so NEW and EMBRYONIC... I don't want to talk to much as things are in a very volatile phase in pre-design or conceptualizing.

So I am working on the ideas because:

#1> I have to make sure the components WORK with the TCG

#2> There is a question of how to package and sell these components

Neither of which is under any state of being finalized or "designed" either. So things are just VERY NEW ATM... And I need to wait until I can test things out.

A computer store in Montreal suggested that I buy an External Case Device which allows you to hook up an IDE HDD to a USB port and share files across PCs... Especially since the computer that housed the IDE HDD had a broken Motherboard and a broken Power Supply.

Bottom line: I managed to recover my files and we'll see where that leads. Most of the "Monster Keep" files were on that HDD and now that I've recouped them, I can start re-working those images (Logos, Cardbacks, etc. etc.) into the new project that I now have in mind.

We'll see how this project moves forwards... TBD. Soon enough!

Did a HUGE "design" Day Today!

Been working on re-tooling a bunch of "Textures", "Logos", "Icons" and "Buttons" to figure out how this product is going to look. So far as Eye-Candy it's not too bad TBH. I re-worked the "Monster Keep" (MK) Logo and created some cool "Textures" to go along with the product... The "Card Face" features "Dragon Scales" (Ok, ok ... It's a larger Leather Texture... Haha) and on the "Card Back" different Granite Textures that I ironically got from "The Home Depot"!

Weirdest place... But their Kitchen department sells Granite Counter Tops and a while back ago I saw them and downloaded a bunch of them... Thinking that they may prove useful in the future.

I had reworked them during today (scaling, DPI resolution, etc. etc.) But the samples were 13" x 13" @ 72 DPI ... So I was able to scale the images down to the size that I needed PLUS @ 300 DPI. I am overall very happy with what I got done today.

I've been playing "Hooky" for a couple of weeks as I watch my "Dual Dice" campaign FINISH... We got 20 extra Subscribers to the KS Page... Which is a bit LOW but for $40 USD over 10-days... Can't ask for miracles either.

Anyways today was a more productive day as I worked mighty hard at trying to make the MK product line of value...

More on this soon enough! Cheers.

More "concept" work today as I...

I have been "designing" in Illustrator and Photoshop to make my CUSTOM-SIZE components for this project. I even uploaded a SAMPLE to "The Game Crafter" and ... Well... It seems like the results will be very encouraging.

The COST is $10.43 USD and my sales point is $24.99 USD.

The reason that this component is priced almost $15+ USD is because I need to leave room for STORES that may want to SELL "Monster Keep" (MK) Merch in their stores. Not sure how that will work out... But its something that I am working on to see if it will be possible...

TBD. I'm going to TRY to wrap up the remainder of the components as soon as I can. No guesses as to how long it will take to finish. I'm about 50% done as of the time this comment is being written.

So plenty more to do... We'll see how LONG it takes me to finish things up!

Cheers.

I am on "Accessory 6" and need to complete the Photoshop Files

Technically I have three (3) MORE "Accessory" to create. I've uploaded five (5) components to "The Game Crafter" (TGC) and it looks pretty neat how they look and I am waiting to complete the remaining items soon. I'm presently on a break... Taking a breather from editing and designing...

I just figured I'd share where I am at... And what needs to be completed.

Hopefully it shouldn't take too long to complete the THREE (3) LAST "Monster Keep" (MK) Accessories... I will of course buy some to TEST them out and ensure that they are good to go!

Best.

Done... And I even created a Bundle

I was not interested in buying all the "Kits" and decided that I'd create a Product Bundle for the game. I retailed it a $59.99 USD plus shipping. From the USA it's a GOOD product but for import into Canada... It's a bit pricey. The margins are just not there... But I could see if I could be made in China for Canada... That's definitely an option.

It's good ... I have a TIMELINE... We'll see when I get the ORDER which should arrive around July 11, 2025.

I'll keep you all posted on the progress of this initiative...

Sincerely.

Working with ChatGPT to create me a "placeholder" image

Since it is illegal to use images from the web that look anything like REAL CARDS, I am asking ChatGPT to create me a "placeholder" image which is derived from the REAL Cardback from the TCG in question.

I'm wondering what it will do... Knowing that it is pretty SMART with prompt registration and interpretation.

I would not trust this query to any other AI Platform because the PROMPT is the most important part: getting all the small details in order to produce an image which is NOT official but sufficiently professional to do the job!

I'll post that image when it is done and we'll see if it looks cool or not...

Cheers.

Here are some SAMPLES of the NEW "Monster Keep" Accessories!

As promised, I'll share with everyone some samples (Images) of the "Monster Keep" (MK) Accessory Bundle:

The "Monster Keep" Psionic Card Back

The "Monster Keep" Psionic Card Face

The "Monster Keep" Psionic with Card Sample

As promised, here is a SAMPLE of the MK Accessories to be used in combination with the Pokémon series of games (Classic TCG or Pocket TCG). Future rules for the "Monster Keep" Variant of the game to be available soon. I will post up that rulesheet once I have completed it. Still have some work to do on it...

True to the name "Monster Keep", these "Card Accessories" are meant to KEEP and TRACK various STATs in the games from Energy Levels, Health Points and the various Status according to some Monster Abilities. And therefore the reason for the NAME: "Monster" "Keep".

These babies KEEP and HOLD your monsters for ease of tracking especially when dealing with Monsters that deal damage to ALL Monsters in a player's board both in the Attacking Position and in Support.

Enjoy!

You can now DOWNLOAD a Free Digital Rulesheet

Here is the Rulesheet that I worked on TODAY! It's up-to-date and matches the publication date of the "Monster Keep" (MK) Product. If you want to have a look at what this product is about feel free to download the Digital Rulesheet.

Monster Keep Rulesheet 1.01a PDF

Hope this interest some of you... I tried to EXPRESS it as QUICK as possible. If any of you are interested, please let me know what you think!

Cheers.

I just updated the K2 Games Inc, website...

Just wanted to let you all know that last night and earlier today, I had been working on refining the K2 Games Inc. website with the new "Monster Keep" (MK) information as well as a quick image with the previews of the various views of the MK Tracker for Psionic Monsters. Here is the URL/Link:

https://www.k2games.ca

That will show you the entire website and you can scroll down to the PRODUCTS area which features a bunch of our games, you can then scroll right to find the MK Product page with the featured image.

I'm happy with all that I've done with this product.

We shall see how I can MARKET these babies... I'll know more about that in the month of July once I get the prototype and test it out.

For now, that's all that I have to report.

BTW it's going to be HOT out there this week ... So stay hydrated and cool!

Cheers all!

Note #1: In case you are wondering about WHY(?) some bios have a Picture and some do not... The ones who have Pictures are still people that I am COLLABORATING with. The ones WITHOUT a picture means that they are no longer contacts for contracts any longer. Specifically at this time, Stan and Madison.

Stan's contact information is no longer available to me... I used to chat with him every once and a while discussing about him, his family and his business... However he is no longer reachable. Same goes for Madison, I kept sending updates and then never got any replies and so I stopped communicating with her as it seemed like she was too busy to answer my messages.

I made a very IMPORTANT decision tonight...

Instead of mixing-up content from two (2) SEPARATE IPs and Brands, my own and the other from the very popular TCG or Pocket Game: Pokemon. I have decided to make both separate works.

What do I mean?

Well the "Monster Keep" (MK) product is a Tracker for Energy, Damage and Status. As such I explain how that PRODUCT works on it's own when used on its own. This is the most HONEST way that I could share that product without any infringements on the other Brand/Product.

I will post up a second document which will be for a Homebrew Variant of the TCG or Pocket Pokemon product/Brand. This document will only contain RULES about HOW to play that game according to a different set of rules.

Obviously why would I go through this much trouble.

Well it's because I will not feature any other rules except the "Compact" version of that game. It will be homebrew and will not infringe on the IP or copyrights of that Game/Brand.

This is the BEST I can do to ISOLATE BOTH Brands from each other in the fact that I am proposing a series of rule changes or an alternate WAY to PLAY! And that's it. Same with the MK rulesheet which is ONLY about MK...

I have yet to publish the 2nd document... But I already made the changes to the MK Rulesheet to FOCUS on the MY Product ONLY!

I will reply once the 2nd document is available to download and will make that a 100% completely SEPARATE set of rules.

Cheers all!

Two (2) separate products/brands now...

I just wrapped up the "Homebrew" rules for the "Compact" version of Pokémon Pocket which can use the "Monster Keep" (MK) Game Trackers. One thing for sure is that this version of the game (even the Homebrew variant) is a quicker game and you can battle it out several times due to the "compact" nature of this version of the game.

Of course you use IRL Pokémon Cards. And that's what is really great and very exciting: it encourages people to buy and collect the REAL LIFE Cards in the Trading Card Game and use them with a variant like our "Homebrew".

I am very pleased that I have DIVIDED both IPs: the MK Accessories and the "Homebrew" Compact Game Rules.

This lends more credibility and less mixing in terms of IP between the TWO (2) Games...

Cheers.
