DOOMSDAY

The end is coming. Seriously.

DOOMSDAY is a 2-6 player game where, no matter what you do, the world will end.

Players control a territory comprised of 2 or more nations, roughly organized into regions (e.g. "Western Europe" or "North America"). War, Diplomacy and the timely use of Resources can help shield you from the coming doom, but they won't prevent it.

Will the simple march of time be your unmaking? Will it be overpopulation-- either on the surface or in the safety bunkers? Or will it be the squandering of resources? Each axis has its own "Clock" counter, which changes at the conclusion of each player's turn based on the current game state. When specific "trigger" settings are met, one or more DOOMSDAY cards are revealed, the victims chosen, and millions die. In the aftermath, the "winner" is crowned by careful allotment and preparation of his resources and suviving population.

The world is ending...are you ready?

Sounds like a good game.

Sounds like a good game.

:-D

Thanks, guy (gender-neutral). My gaming guy who's a real rules head-cracker seems to think there's some real potential here too.

FYI

Using MB's Candyland board as a jumping off point, the art area will be approx 20" wide, 15 long. So that means your finished map image should fit on 4 total a4-ish sized page labels.

Wikipedia Commons's blank simplified is good and square; its full res looks like it might be a good source image.

Good catch

I was aware of this game; it was featured like six thousand years ago in InQuest magazine's "Swan Song" feature.

While there is some "nukes" component to Doomsday, it's only one of the many ways we could get sucked into oblivion. I'm taking my time with this one; really hitting research mode pretty hard. While my ultimate goal is to get things realistic, I also really like some of the fun-with-cliches action of a game like Monsters Menace America and the universality of games like Risk/Axis and Allies/Shogun.
