Living Card Game Concept

I'm very much into card game, specifically TCG/CCGs, and I'm currently trying to create one myself, but attempting to publish and distribute independently may be an issue. But there is a another direction to take:

Final Flight Games has this interesting idea, that call it a LCG, a Living Card game. The concept is that when you buy a set (an expansion or main set) you will receive one of each card available in the set. Although you have to buy X amount of sets to have a full play set of cards, but if you split the cost of X sets with several friends it may end buying one set and having your full play set or simply trade the cards. (All the games are max of three same cards in a deck, so X = 3 in this case). So there is not random booster pack, no expensive rare chase cards, and no need revise your deck every three months.

FFG has turned two CCG into a LCG already (A Game of Thrones and Call of Cthulhu), and it seems to be working out well. I'm trying to make a CCG type game myself, and I know others are as well, I would just like to share this idea, as I feel its a better way to publish and distribute this way, because your selling your product as a "board game" and not as a CCG, and there is a very huge difference between the two.

For me the thrill of a TCG

For me the thrill of a TCG lies in the fact that not everyone has accessability to the same cards. It adds to more variety in the game.

It does, if your a casual player, but if you play competitively, and its a hassle to get these cards and to play test them just to find out you wont use them, you will end up having a full play set of everything you needs as well, so buying a set of the card is more often the case then opening booster packs.

The randomness adds flavor to collectors more than the players themselves, and inflates the cost of certain cards, it also works out if your a seller.

Currently I'm having an easier time introducing an LCG to my board game friends its an easier stepping stone, as they don't need to buy their own cards nor do they need to keep up with the sets. I have just the core set and its working out well, its still a bit hard to teach as I only have one of each card, and memorizing them is still part of the learning process. Once I get 2 more sets and create custom decks I feel it will become easier as there will be more copies of certain cards and less to memorize.

I feel overall that it has a better learning model for card game.
