There are many publishers who

There are many publishers who look at outside submissions. If you go to their website, many have "submission guidelines" or something like that. And lookee up there ^^ Minion Games!

Speaking from experience here: you can plop a few thousand dollars on a print run, do all the art yourself, and have a closet full of games... that's the easy part. The hard part is going to cons, getting people to buy it, advertising, bookkeeping, schmoozing magazines and distributors... There's a lot to selling a game besides just having a great idea, and if you can find someone else to do it for you who does that well... let's just say it's a valuable thing.

If you can't find anyone to do it for you, then you might go to "plan B": doing a small print run at a print-on-demand (POD) company. You will not have nearly the initial outlay in cash, and what I've seen of POD game manufacturers is some pretty good quality considering the price.

That depends...

That depends on what you're asking.

If you're asking if it's better to risk someone else's money than your own, odds are the answer is "yes." I suppose that depends on the arrangement you've made with your investor(s). If you're committed to paying them back no matter what, at 15% interest, it might not be such a good deal.

A lot depends on how likely your game is to be a hit, and how much you have to sell to make the invested money back.

There's a lot more I could say, but the quick answer is: It depends. Take a look at your business plan and you'll probably be able to figure out the answer yourself.

There's a list of publishers right here on the BGDF: http://www.bgdf.com/node/621 - It's worth checking out.

Best of luck!

Ludofact

Well,

I emailed Ludofact.de for some idea of a print run but they never replied.
Someone here at another thread recommended them for Europe printing.

I also wondered if they could alter a card holder to a different shape as I need a better design with it.

Did you ask them for a quote for a specific game?

i.e. with a full listing of components, number of copies desired etc...?

Without the details they won't be able to tell you how much a print run will cost.

As for custom card holders, I’m certain they can do it but as always the cost will be prohibitive for small runs.

No in my email I asked them if they could send idea of cost and also about the redesign card holder.
You thought they would have replied initially.
