Prototype Board

Prototype Board

Here is a (very) rough board explaining some of the ideas I was talking about for my new game about Merchants supplying heroes. The original forum topic is here: http://www.bgdf.com/node/5051

As you can see, the board is split into 3 sections. One is the game map, one is the party information area, and the third shows what events are taking place throughout the world.

Dungeons

I'm not sure how your dungeons will work... HOWEVER I would use something like your "Event board" to do a dungeon crawl. You continue in the dungeon, gathering "good stuff" (Gold, Artifacts, Treasure, etc.) until you "Draw" a "Get out of dungeon" card...

The "Get out of dungeon" card could be something like "You have slain a mighty dragon. You have freed this dungeon from it's foul grasp... EXIT dungeon." Other exit cards could be negative (force you to surrender all the "good stuff" you have found)... An example: "A vampire scares your party. You run and lose all your treasure. EXIT dungeon."

Small vs. Big dungeon

I'm also not sure I understand how you will manage the "small" vs. "big" dungeon. Perhaps instead of a "Get out of dungeon" card, you could have a specific number of DICE rolls.

Small = 5 rolls and Big = 10 rolls (examples).

This reminds me of a "mini game" in a video game. You had certain amount of dice rolls and on some squares you could get an extra roll (for example) and you had to reach the end - to earn the prize.

But then you would need two (2) different boards - one for each type of dungeon...

Thanks for the ideas! If you

Thanks for the ideas! If you read my original post you will see that the game is not so much about the dungeon movement itself, but more about merchants supplying the heroes. The dungeons are fairly simple, and going to be cards drawn as you said earlier, with a certain amount of cards drawn per turn, and a certain amount of cards needed to complete the dungeon, then you play using its boss card. I really do like the idea of a card that either forces you out of the dungeon or gives the option, though. It would really mix up the game.
