Design, 0 time, accomplish something...

Over the years I have come to the realization that, for me, the hardest part about game design, is my lack of time. As with most people my time seems to just disappear. With all the usual family events or working too much, I find it hard to sit down and make what I would call decent progress on any of my game designs.

And lately I have been attempting to organize my life in general to be more focused and help myself accomplish more in my life.

So I have been pondering a neat little concept called Daily Actions.

At this point I am working on a list of generic Daily Actions that could cover most daily life activities. I want to group these Daily Actions into two types, recurring and one time use.

Once I have a list of the Daily Actions, I plan to select the various recurring daily actions that represent my normal daily grind. Recurring actions will only be selected/created when something occurs for a specific number of days in a row. So if I find myself having the task of *walking the dog*, and this happens everyday, I will select the *walking the dog* recurring card (or create a new one if it does not exists). Part of these daily recurring actions cards might contain the time to perform on them (maybe not).

After I have my recurring actions, I will move onto the one time use actions cards. Based on the time required to complete my recurring actions, I will be able to draw X cards from the one time use, to help *define* my tasks and objectives for the day. Hopefully the one time use cards can be broken down into minute level times to perform (maybe up to an hour).

The desired outcome is that over a span of time, the various actions will represent the things in life I would like to accomplish, and will allow me to focus on each of them over time. But also help me stay focused on a specific day with respect to exactly what I have in my hand of actions to play.

Once I have this in place, I figured the next thought would be to consider how to handle interruptions, and from the what I can tell that mgiht mean something as simple as discarding some one time use actions to offset the length of the interruption.

Anyways not sure if this sounds crazy or not, but I find the idea interesting enough to consider, and if I can actually find the time to make up a set of crappy cards to give it a try, it might prove fun, and maybe even useful in the long run!

Dude!

That sounds like a great idea! I may do something very similar myself. I think I might even assign point values, with more points for the things I don't really have much desire to do but really want to have done, like exercising, and then work to keep my daily score above a certain number.

I have the opposite problem,

I have the opposite problem, actually... I find I have much too much time, with not nearly enough to do. After doing all my necessaries, I do... stuff... It's very dull, and thus doesn't get much defining.

I'm not a good theme designer, and my co-workers (read friends) haven't been pitching me much to develop lately.... sigh, I wish I had a deadline.
