Dymino Monsters Update October 15 2022

Dymino Monsters Update:

Early yesterday morning I worked on Armarius' weapon skill technique cards.

I have edited the set from 82 cards to 71 cards.

Armarius uses the Boomerang as his main weapon of choice. As with all of the characters they can use other offense and defense weapons through out their travels in TriiDorium.

Armarius is primarily a close combat defense technician and long range technician due to using the Boomerang.

So his skills set has been changed and has the capability of targeting more than 2 encounters on the field. The highest target on the rank is capable of targeting 9 encounters with the Boomerang and can ricochet the Boomerang off of objects.

The card count of the game is now at 10,971.

There might be other edits to the last 9 playable characters weapon skill technique sets. We will see what will happen to fit the character build.

Wow ... That's actually very interesting!

Good to hear that you are "trimming the fat" on some of your Decks, so to speak!

It's always a good idea to review and re-evaluate your cards to see if things can be simplified or streamlined (like 2 nearly identical cards or a couple of cards that are in opposite). Sounds very promising too.

Anyhow the card count is a bit HIGH. But I guess I understand that you have your own system and are working with how it helps shape the decks not necessarily your own will... But more about what makes sense for the game.

Kudos on continuing to work on this project. Keep up the good work, I'm sure you will find more areas in the game where you can reduce the card count and make the game that much more "tighter".

Cheers @Jesse.

Thank you

Great discussion:

CARD COUNT:

My list of core and it's continuation of chapter decks (in the industry would call them expansion decks) was miss counted last year or this year.

Here is why:

In my Dymino Monsters: Monster encyclopedia, it had 2,825 original encounters. Through out the writing, I had taken out the flood card section and a slew of wind cards that was not needed to be repeated to do a second set for both and encounter names that didn't fit the storyline. Soo I had scratched out those sections and at that time I didn't feel like recounting the list. So it sat at 2,825 and I told myself that I would recalculate the list in the future and get other details complete before recalculating the list to see what I really had. So that time was a day ago.

All that information is in the locked thread.

TRIMMING THE FAT:

Knowing that the character I was working on was to be a close combat, long range technician of sorts, I scanned my newest weapon skill technique list and I wrote down a calculated list for this character, Armarius skill techniques. What was more plausible and considered the best set of moves for the character.

So, instead of having 82 skills, I just gave the character less than 82 skills from the list and that was 71.

That's what I initially did. The main core and expansion decks are still at 10,971. That's the difference.

The game is an Epic Fantasy. The story and its content needs to be epic. The game allows for the different variation of game play that was designed for my own game system.

MAKING THE GAME FEEL TIGHTER:
Through out the 18 years as of August 2022, I have made tons of modifications, chapter name changes, removed 10 out of 13 of those chapter titles for the game's continuation of storyryline expansions and that was on October 7, 2019.

THE CHAPTERS I DID KEEP OUT OF THE 13 REMOVED:

Dark Time Insane Asylum was changed to Dead Dreams

The Heart of the Valley chapter deck was removed 4 times from October 7 2019 and put back on the 5th time sometime in 2020.

The Cross of The Titan Triangle Temple was removed and added 3 times but later added back into the on October 32, 2020.

So, to answer your question, I've been making my game tighter since 2004 once I had moved from 1 state to another and didn't get back to development on the game since 2006 due to life situations.

I want this game to be complete as anyone else who's been watching the game being developed, edited, play tested from 2009 to 2019.

It's not a project for me just to develop and walk away from it just for the hype. I'm not that kind of person. I let my games, creativity in small art and story telling do the work for me so yes, I will continue to get this epic fantasy masterpiece of mine all the way through.

For 18 years , I still have the passion to get this game complete and write all of the details.

From 2006 - 2022, I've designed 27 games , so yes, I will see Dymino Monsters all the way through. I'm in no rush , but I want to complete the prototype index cards to have my own full set first.
