The Game Crafter now makes Custom Acrylic Dice!

The Game Crafter - Custom Etched Acrylic Dice are now available at The Game Crafter!

The Game Crafter is pleased to announce the release of Custom Acrylic Dice! Just like with our custom wood dice you can upload any pattern you want and we’ll etch them into the dice. But unlike the wood dice we’ll ink these dice for you as well. It’s just shy of $9 to do 1 die, but if you’re doing a set then that price drops to less than $5 per die. They come in the 4 colors shown in the photo. And we will likely have more color combinations as time passes.

Awesome! But now I can't

Awesome! But now I can't decide between these or the wooden dice!

Hmm...

I would go with the Acrylic dice -- because they are more durable than the wooden ones. Not that I'm a professional at determining the quality of the wooden dice... But TO ME, I think the Acrylic dice will last longer.

My guess is that in 6 months the Engraved Wooden dice won't be available anymore... Who wants wooden dice when you can have engraved and PAINTED plastic dice???

Perhaps if the wooden ones are less expensive ... well then maybe they'll stick around. But if they are the same price... I expect the wooden dice to disappear rather soon and be replaced by their acrylic counter parts.

IMHO.

Update: Looks like the wooden dice are $0.50 less expensive per side than the Acrylic dice which is $1.41 per side... That's quite a bit for engraving 6 sides!!!

Wood for theme

I really like the plastic painted options for production, but for a personal prototype, the wood works really well with my theme and player boards. I'm going for a dark wood and brass Victorian style Steampunk control panel, so wood dice, with a protective polyurethane stain would go great with that I think!

theme

yep, we know game designers in the past have requested wood and acrylic for this very reason. We try to provide flexibility in design so we like having both options available. :)
