Introduction...

I'm new to this site, and I like the idea of having a place to throw ideas around, get feedback, and discuss obscure game things that most other folks really don't care about.

I have always enjoyed boardgames, but am fairly new to anything but whatever Walmart carries and the Settlers of Catan. Recently, a contest on BGG got me thinking about game design, and I've discovered that it's an amazing hobby that I really really enjoy. My husband wants me to run with it, and has all sorts of ideas about selling my games, but for now I'm content to make the sort of games that I would like to play without worrying about how to sell them.

I have one very simple finished game, which was my first and was created for the contest I mentioned above. (I came 2nd and got enough geek gold to buy an avatar, which was my whole original motivation to try the contest).

I have a rapidly growing file of game ideas, which I tend to flesh out in my head on the long commute to and from work each day, typing notes frantically when I've arrived or scribbling them in the notebook I keep in my purse.

My most developed game is a vaguely steampunk themed game of airship trading and piracy, with a heavy emphasis on the piracy. It is pretty much impossible to win by trading alone. My original inspiration was actually side-scrolling video games, and although the game has left it's side-scrolling roots I may revisit the idea again with another game one day. I am working on putting together several good prototypes and looking for playtesters for this game, which is (still) tentatively titled 'Sky Pirates', rather for lack of a better idea than any attachment to the working name.

My other games include a resource gathering game targeted at and about the local First Nations (american indian, to you folks in the US) group in my corner of Northern BC, and a set-collection/area-control hybrid about 1930s newspaper barons.
