Thanks for your suggestion

I assume you're referencing the image on our web age. That is the cover art image for the game packaging. When we have the "beauty shot" photos from the actual game we'll probably remove it altogether and post new pics.

Thanks for taking a look at our web site.

Thanks for your god wishes, John. I've followed your posts here on BGDF and admire your professionalism and never-ending well of creativity.

Umm... What?

Sounds extreamly simular to the game I've been working on. Esp the bi-line on the top.

Convergent Evolution

Hi James. Wow, looks like a case of convergent evolution. My brother and I began working on Ogre Castle in Dec 2007 and it's gone through many variations, though the core concepts of an Ogre trying to stop invading Knights from stealing his treasure has been a constant. Our game uses a fixed board and has a lighter "family" feel. Strategy comes from the players' choices as they move through the castle, which battles to fight, or spells to use in achieving their goals or thwarting other players.

It's a big world and there's plenty of room of both games, I'm sure. Yours seems to be aimed at more serious gamers and the modular game board will allow for a very different experience. Looking at your photos on BGG it looks like we even used some of the same D&D Miniatures during development. :-)

We'll be posting a BGG page when Ogre Castle is released and I'd be happy to send you a complimentary copy of the game if you're interested.

My Frawn

My frawn was that of finding another game with a very simular story/plot/goal to my own - scary simular. Not that you may have ripped me off or the reverse. Didn't mean that. Just really weird.

Anyway, wish you the best of luck. No need to send a comp copy, but if you really want to I'm certainly willing to give it a try :) Send it to my shop address and I'll add it to our store library: http://www.game-universe.com

Thanks James

Hi James...I found the address on your store's web site and will send a copy of Ogre Castle to you when it's released. Maybe someone will find it enjoyable. :-)

congratulations, you both

congratulations, you both re-invented the wheel.
there are lots of different dungeon crawl games out there already (including several high-profile ones), and having one player be the DM and the others be the dungeon crawlers is the extreme norm, not the exception.

because you have ideas that share a common genre, the goal (as with any game) is to provide interesting mechanics and smooth gameplay, which should be what sets you apart.

Thanks Truekid

Thanks for your input, Truekid. :-)

I am not laboring under the misconception that I invented a new gaming genre, and I doubt James is either. Games with players chasing each other around a board have been around for the last 5,000 years or so. It was just my goal to create something fun for the whole family. :-)

james seemed surprised that

james seemed surprised that another dungeon-crawl existed ;)
