Tradewars - Homeworld: Planetary expansion

I know that I have mentioned an "expansion" with *Planetary* cards (also know as the Privateer expansion). So the planetary cards are used in conjunction with the "Treasurer" role (which trades resources for credits). How a planetary card affects this is by specifying "multipliers" for certain resources:

  • Planet A: 2x Food and 3x Medicine
  • Planet B: 2x Polymers and 4x Isotopes
  • Planet C: 2x Technology, 3x Contraband and 4x Weaponry

Players roll a dice, to determine how many turns this planet will be in play. There are a total of 15 planetary cards and therefore a maximum of 90 turns (very unlikely).

So here is something that I am thinking about:

  • How to introduce something to do with Mission cards.
  • Let's say something that determines the posture of the planet.

If a Planet was:

  • "Diplomatic", then missions can HALVE the time taken for the mission.
  • "Allied", then missions DOUBLE in reward.
  • "Rebel", then missions starships can ATTACK an opponent's starships.
  • 3x "Neutral", then no mission bonus.

When you reveal the next planetary card, you also determine the posture of the planet. And this would ADD a whole other layer to missions: halve the time, double the reward or attack you opponents...

And this could be done via a d6. I personally would like to have 1 Black dice (for the turns) and one Red dice (for the posture). And a look-up table such as:

  • Odd = Neutral
  • 2 = Halve the time
  • 4 = Double the reward
  • 6 = Tradeships can attack

Something rather simple that could be documented on a "Planetary reference card"!

Any thoughts or comments?!

Another note worthy point

I realize that if a mission roll takes 4 turns and a Planetary card is in play for 3 turns, well then the NEXT Planetary card will determine the bonus, if any, that will occur on the last mission turn (turn 4 of 4).
