Map Builder Game Design Challenge Entries are in

The Game Crafter would like to extend a big thank you to all of the contestants for participating in the Map Builder Game Design Challenge. In the next couple of weeks our guest judge, Mark Major of Whirling Derby Games will have some tough choices to make to narrow this list down to just a few finalists!

Naming the Game

I have been working on a wizard dueling game for a long time now. Many things have stalled the project but now that I have it well along its way and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel there is one sticking point that keeps gnawing at me; The Name.

Magic Maestrom and me

I have had a varied career, managing games shops in the early 1980’s Then a freelance sculptor with design business. Then on to a career in an earth science organisation doing graphics, mapping, science and information management. I have played games since I was a youngster. The Magic Maelstrom Boardgame is all about Scotland, Scandinavia, Picts, Scots, Vikings and their various mythologies, plus a Maelstrom, oh, and beasties...some of which are not very timorous. On BGG: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/128991/magic-maelstrom

RTS board game in idea stage

Right now I'm working on a side project focused around RTS where you build up your econmony and eventually command an army to defeat your enemies.

I am thinking that cards will be the main focus. Economy, attack options (when in combat), and move options. With this you will pick from community decks (may change) which will either give you money (econmony deck), determine what will happen in combat (attack deck), and tell you what kind of moves you can make (move deck).

Past present and future

Hey guys, I'm tyler, Tbone for short. I've been on here for a little while and it seems like a good community to get ideas out.

For right now I'm at a cross roads with my game called Battle of the Aces. A game where you must use a specific selection of thirteen cards from a total of thirty different cards that all do different things in the game.

I'm taking a break from that and letting my ideas settle. For now I'm going to be working on a RTS type strategy game where you must build buildings units and upgrades to increase your chances of killing your opponent.

A little about me

I've been designing games and toys since I was 10. Our family didn't have the extra funds to afford such things like video games and action figures, so I improvised. With the help of my baby brother we created a world of greatness with clothe pins, cardboard, toothpics, tape and glue.

Just got here

I'm really looking forward to sharing my gaming ideas, knowledge and insight with those who are also in the same position - to provide entertainment to young and old through age-old tabletop family fun.

At work so I'll keep it short.
Ciao for now,
cK
