Captcha: Playtesting tonight (hopefully)

SDC11361.JPG

I'm playing Warmachine tonight. Hopefully afterwards, I can coax some of the players to try out "Captcha". I really want to change the name... The best I could come up with is "Scramble!" It's close enough to Scrabble and you are doing just that, scrambling for tiles. I took a picture of the prototype that I wanted to add to this post but I didn't have time before I left for work. Hopefully, I'll have a photo up soon as well as the results of the playtest.

Edit: No dice tonight. No one wanted to stick around, but I do have a picture from last night.

Eliminating the Compitition

It just dawned on me that im making hard on myself. One of the reasons that it is so hard to get published is there are more games being submitted to publishers than they can publish, allot more. I have a plan to help relieve some of the overload and increase my odds.

Captcha: Prototype Nearly Complete

If you regular the site, you may or may not have noticed my submission of "Captcha Capture" for the BGDS in December. I had so much fun working on the rules and LIKED the rules I made, that I started working on a prototype. I bought craft sticks and used P3 acrylic, white primer to paint the sticks as specified in my rules. The paint has a bit of an odor but it's faint and you can only smell it if you put your nose up to it. The white compliments the black lettering and better represents Captcha in this sense. On the other hand, the Scrabble pieces are wooden, as well as the tile holders.

Ideas, Theft, and Thoughts

A friend of mine who programs asked "why?" when I told him I blog about my design process and the ideas that spring from it. I answered, "I doubt anyone would want to steal it. It's half done and would take actual thought to finish it. I have all my work on here, so people will know I created it." I'm really not too concerned about theft. I'd really like to see this (these) games of mine created just to see my vision come to life for all to play. A bit or payment or a nod would be nice if someone happens to take it.

Trade shows and fearing other inventors with connections.

Hello everyone! I am new to the game industry and this forum. If I may ask my first questions, I would appreciate any guidance anyone can offer.

Odds n' Ends

I’ll be honest, I’ve been putting off this blog post for some time now. I find the more engrossed I get with my work the less I want to take time away from it. Since alot of BGDF posts Ive been reading discuss work flow methods, design methods and environments I thought I’d make a post about mine.

I write at a desk featuring a few plants, a large open window, and a modest selection of miniatures. Also on the desk are a number of items that pertain to my work, tape measure, dice, drawing pads etc.

Barnyard Brawl: Combat, Other Thoughts, and Warhammer

Thoughts
-------------
It seems my drive for working on Arcana Victoriana has run out of steam. Pun intended. I REALLY do not want to work on all the characters by myself. The same thing happened for my time travel game; I don't want to work on every single card. It just boils down to lack of friends that share the same interest. ANYWAY, in an attempt to stall on working on A.V., I'm going to spitball some ideas for B.B.
