Flagships

Hi

I've recently posted a computerized version of my naval strategy board game Flagships as a free play-on-line applet (in development) at http://www.flagships.eu

This is based on a game which I first marketed in the 80s, and during computerization I quickly found that a radical restructuring of the playing area led to a much-enhanced version. Originally programmed in Visual Basic 5, I'm currently rewriting it in Java in order to reach a cross platform audience. For the moment, the applet is only playable on Windows systems.

My current games line-up

A summary of the games I'm currently working on, just so I don't forget:

Get 'em!
A quick and simple card game with a push-your-luck mechanism. Graphics by Ariel Seoane. I'm still tweaking the scoring system and making small adjustments to it to perfect it, but it's basically done. I sent it to a publisher back in 2008. It came very far in their process, but was utimately rejected. I should try approaching another publisher come spring 2011.

Close call

The registration deadline for the Protospiel card design contest ended Friday and now I’m waiting for the first round submissions which are due by Oct 30th.

Just a week ago I was in pre-panic mode since we had less than half the expected designer register and it looked likely that we would have to cancel the contest.

New game

Helo I invented a game 16 years ago and have now decided to do something with it. how cam I check if it conflicts with anything else on the market, any help really appreciated.

Too much?

I think I'm going to shelve my Mafia Economy game, think I bit off more than I can chew. I think I'll start off with a simple kids game (or something w/o so many variables). If that works, then go a little bigger and so on and so forth. I only learn from failure, and I'm learning a lot!

32 hours in 2 days.

Busted my hump yesterday 18 hr. straight! I think I've found my calling! Been a gamer since 1977, yes I played D&D around 1979-1980. I must have played a 1000 games since 77, and It seems I'm pulling Ideas from them all.

Have the design for my first game, still working in Excel to do my math for me. Still trying to decide what to put on my page (BGDF). I'm learning all about the K.I.S.S. principle! I'm also finding that I'm constantly changing aspects of the game, to simpler ideas. Working & re-working.

Laid Off

Got laid off on Monday, looks like I have a month or two to get some game designing done. Working on a Mafia Economy Game. Making some Boards, tokens, cards. Really excited to learn board game design, I've had many Ideas over the years of gaming.

At some point (after I figure the site out) I'll begin posting some stuff on here (maybe for review?).

First thing will probably be my Themes Document.
