Stealth-Combat Adventure Game?

Hi, I'm new to BGDF, but was looking for some help with a dilemma. For some time now I've been looking for a way to incorporate stealth action elements (think Tom Clancy's 'Splinter Cell') into a board game. The idea that I've been looking into most is a tile laying game, with and terrain features such as doors, windows, ladders, crates, crawlspaces, etc... I think that the main concept that I'm going for is to make a stealth action board game that is compareable in 'fun level' to the console games of its genre.

New Review

Andrew Tullsen has posted a new review of Dog Fight: Starship Edition on Board Game Geek, including photos. Read it here:

A game with ships.

Couldn't sleep last night as ideas for this game were 'swimming' round my head...

The concept is that two coastal countries are invading each other at the same time, each having the same size navy to defend/attack with and each having the same number of coastal towns.

The object of the game is to get your troop transports into the opponents cities without them being destroyed by the opponents navy.

The winner is the first person to get his transports into all the opponents cities.

I got the final box cover art from the artists this morning for my game and I've posted it over on Board Game Geek. Here's a link to the game's entry:

Tales from Mobicon

Mobicon was a well organized 3 days of a whole slew of events. Jim and I attended only Saturday to demo Dog Fight: Starship Edition and showed the game a lot. Because we were manning the table all day we missed a lot of stuff but the main coordinator, David, chatted with us a while and had some great stories. Mobicon just had its 13th year and I'm looking forward to next year.

'tis but another board game aspirant designer.

I have been browsing the BGDF now for a week or so, and I must say that I have been pleasantly surprised by the content and helpfulness of the community. As well as being confused at some of the forum posts, and amazed at how others seem to grasp, what appear to me, abstract descriptions of a game and provide inspirational feedback.

new kid on block

I wrote and self published a book in 2000: "Your Amazing Mind, How To Handle Life's Challenges".

YAM suggests that life is like a game and I outlined what I thought the rules were.

Then I thought: "Why not design that game myself using the data from the book"?

I developed the concept, played with it. People liked getting an insight into the programs that were running on automatic. Then I added cards and then color coded them, all the while getting people to play the game and tell me their opinions.
