The Game Crafter's blog

Classic Arcade Challenge Winner

Our judge, Peter Jackson, has determined the winner of our Classic Arcade Challenge. Here’s what he had to say:

After several long nights of play-through sessions with a small army of friends, a clear winner has emerged from The Game Crafter’s Classic Arcade contest: Galaxy Dice. It wasn’t the prettiest game in the stack—CardCraft, Burger Blitz, and Battle at the Arcade all had great art, and Global Thermonuclear War had some really evocative card designs and layout choices. It also wasn’t my favorite name, nor my favorite mechanic. But three things set GD apart: it was the only game that inspired me to download an old arcade game emulator, it was the only game that caused shouting, and it was the only game my friends asked to play again after finishing a round.

The Game Crafter has created a brand new help system to give you the skinny on how to do everything on the TGC website. We’ve migrated all of our old content, and added a bunch of new content. In addition, this thing is chocked full of features we didn’t previously have. Let’s talk about a few of them.

1) Search. The new help system has it’s own search engine, which is not only fast, but highly accurate. It should make locating what you’re looking for much faster.

Custom Printed Large Score Pads

Custom Printed Large Score Pads made by The Game Crafter

You can’t have a small score pad without also having a large score pad, so here it is! At 8x10 inches it is huge, and perfect for games that need a lot of detail. These would make great character sheets for an RPG, or they could keep track of the scores of everyone at the table, if you have a score keeper role. Download the template and get started. Enjoy!

Announcing The Micro Game Challenge

Micro Game Challenge Sponsors - Father Geek, All Us Geeks Podcast, and The Game Crafter

Father Geek, the All Us Geeks Podcast and The Game Crafter are proud to present the Micro Game Challenge. When you’re looking to get new people into games, especially around the holidays it’s nice to have a micro game or two. Also, since a dollar doesn’t stretch as far as it used to, it’s nice to be able to buy a game that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. A micro game is a complete game, that fits in a tuck box. It’s small, portable, inexpensive, fast to play, easy to learn and teach, and most importantly fun.

Cyrus Kirby from Father Geek and Jeff King from All Us Geeks have personally put up the money for this challenge, wrote the rules for it, and will also be judging it.

The Game Crafter - The Leading Print On Demand Game Publisher

Voting is now open for The Game Crafter's Classic Arcade Challenge. The TGC community needs to narrow down the field of 33 entries to just 20 for our judge to critique. Voting shall remain open for the next 7 days. At that time, the 20 games with the most votes shall be revealed, and our guest judge will get to work.
